Announcing a workshop upcoming in Berlin next week hosted by @tendermeshh !

Character Development in Dance and Theatre

Workshop Description:
This workshop explores character creation, drawing from contemporary dance, dance theatre, classical theatre devising, physical theatre, improvisation, and image-based composition, encouraging performers to expand their performative range and move beyond habitual patterns.

Participants learn to develop characters both physically and psychologically, working with rhythm, gesture, gaze, tension, spatial relationships, and presence, as well as text, speech analysis, and the imagination.

Facilitator Description:
Oryx is a dancer, choreographer, actor, and facilitator, their practice blending athleticism with a wide emotional and scenographic range. Oryx facilitates spaces that prioritize presence, sensitivity, and creative inquiry—where the body becomes a medium for re-imagining relationality, identity, and sensation beyond normative frameworks. They explore the intersections of physical theatre and classical acting, street and contemporary dance, and butoh.

Dates and Times:
Saturday 17.10 14:00-17:00
Sunday 18.10 16:00-19:00

Price:
sliding scale 65-100€

very happy to share some stills from a dance video project I have been working on, entitled ‘Hollow Weather’.
The project wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of wonderful collaborators, and I’m excited to share about it more in the near future. Lots of appreciation for everyone involved <3

Hollow Weather drifts through the loose sensations of magnetic alienation, dissociation, and chronic fallacy, at once a shadow and inversion of lived realities. Indulging in the associative quality of a visual poem, Hollow Weather slips beneath the surface of the familiar, favouring dream-like qualities and images. The work traces the individual’s fraught tether to society through the language of the body, unfolding the emotional traces of living alone amongst many, and the moments of intimacy which emerge from this spacious, dislocated terrain. Fragments of imagined realities are sutured together, forming a spectral architecture assembled from the entwined hauntings of layered realities.
