I’ve been saying for a while that the US and Nigeria are two of the most important players in what the future will look like — and this is exactly why.

California’s State Assembly just approved ACR 129 to establish a sister-state relationship with Lagos State, Nigeria. It still has to go through the State Senate, but the signal is already loud.

This is bigger than symbolism. It’s about what can happen when two globally influential regions with serious talent, culture, commerce, technology, and diaspora ties begin building a more formal bridge.

For founders, creators, students, operators, and diasporans, this is the kind of moment you pay attention to early. You look for where the committees will be, where the trade conversations will happen, and who is building real ecosystems across both markets.

I’ve always believed the US and Nigeria will be formative players in the future — not just separately, but together.

Diasporans, lock in.

Comment “LITHIUM” if you want the breakdown behind this story, not just the headline. 🧱

Nigeria did NOT sell $700B in minerals to the U.S. — but the bigger opportunity may be what happens after extraction.

Processing. Manufacturing. Batteries. Energy storage.

I recently came across a real exploration opportunity involving lithium + gold in Nigeria, and I’m doing diligence before I put it in front of anyone.

What interests me most is not just owning a mine. It’s understanding who processes the minerals, who manufactures with them, who builds the battery systems, and who controls the next layer of the value chain.

That’s where I think the real conversation is.

But I’m curious — if Nigeria has the minerals, where do you think the biggest opportunity is: mining, processing, manufacturing, or energy storage?

If you want the free Critical Minerals Opportunity Map — or you’re seriously interested in the opportunity I came across — comment “LITHIUM” and I’ll get back to you.

This is not financial advice, but for educational purposes only. Kindly do your own diligence. taken in Hudson Yards New York by @osazomon

With the Dangote Refinery IPO subscription window open through October 13, people are saying this could make you a millionaire.

Okay… but millionaire in what currency?

There’s a lot of hype around this IPO, and a lot of people are skipping the math.

So I broke down 10 things people are getting wrong about the Dangote IPO, including:

• ₦1M vs. $1M
• why a low share price doesn’t automatically mean “cheap”
• why your starting capital matters
• why diaspora investors need to think about currency risk
• and why investing in Nigeria is much bigger than one company

I’m excited about the opportunity. I just want us investing with calculators, not vibes.

Comment "ALIKO" and I’ll send you my free guide 🧱

Already got the guide from my first Dangote post? Comment "ALIKO" again — I added the next step.

Girl math is taking that same $178-flight to Nigeria when one laser session in the U.S. was costing me $500+ every six weeks 😭

I’ve been doing laser for years, but I was still experiencing more regrowth than I wanted. I started going to @thebaddielab.ng in 2024, and started laser this past March… It’s safe to say they’re my Lagos go-to.

For me, the treatment didn’t hurt. I barely felt it. Laser starts at ₦8,000 (~$6), so there are options for different budgets and treatment areas.

The Baddie Lab has been with me since I started my GLP-1 journey, and I genuinely love them. My treatments were gifted, but I wasn’t paid to say this.

COMMENT “ALIKO” and I’ll DM you my FREE Dangote IPO Quick Sheet immediately. 👇🏾

Two investment platforms reportedly struggled under the traffic—but here’s the part people are missing:

The base offer includes 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 each. If the IPO is oversubscribed, a greenshoe option could allow Dangote Refinery to release up to 30% more shares, potentially increasing the total offer to 5.33 billion shares.

Translation: high demand does not automatically mean the opportunity is over.

Your final allotment may still be lower than the number of shares you request, but oversubscription could expand the overall offer. So if you’ve reviewed the risks, this fits your investment strategy and the platform you’re using is verified, don’t let a busy website stop you from completing your application.

Let’s run up Black ownership, not just online conversation. 🔥

People want access to African companies creating real value—and Dangote will not be the last. I expect more Nigerian companies to follow this path and show the world what Africa is actually worth.

But the biggest question I keep seeing is: How do I participate, especially if I’m outside Nigeria?

So I created one simple resource covering:

• How Nigerians can explore participating
• What Americans and the diaspora should know
• Verified platforms and potential access routes
• Tutorials and useful resources
• Allotment, oversubscription and important risks

This is exactly why I built Build Between: to help people understand the opportunities emerging between Africa and the rest of the world before the conversation becomes crowded.

We are watching a new chapter of African ownership unfold in real time. Let’s really run it up. 🌍

I told y’all to check the caption for the hair math 😂🇳🇬

I try not to make everything about how “cheap” things are in Nigeria because that’s genuinely not the only reason I do things here. I fly 20+ times a year as a tech founder raising capital and working with customers across different states and two continents. Q4 is usually my busiest and most demanding season, so yes… I flew to Nigeria and got my hair DONE. 😭

The breakdown:
Hair: ₦60K
Delivery: ₦5K
Taking down my previous all-backs/French braids: ₦5K
Wash: normally ₦10K (she didn’t charge me)
Braiding/install: about ₦50K for two women

So I paid about ₦120K total (~$91), and TWO women worked on my hair. The entire process took around 4 hours with take down taking 1 hour or so!

And I am soooo happy with it. 😭 I’m actually not a braids girl, but at this point it feels insane for me not to get my hair done when I’m in Nigeria.

Now the hair is done. Q4 can begin. 😂

I’m also raising a $1.5M round for my company this quarter, sooooo… let’s see how this goes.

Q4, let’s get it. 💜

I wanna know though:
Would YOU fly to Nigeria for a $178 flight + ₦120K hair? taken in Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos by @osazomon

What drives Lagos Updates?

Real-life experiences of living, working and doing business in Lagos. The good, the bad, the updates and the things we need to improve.

For those relocating to Nigeria, this will be an interesting episode because Lagos is a city you need to experience to truly understand.

There is love in Lagos o.

As Lagosians, we all want a Lagos we can live in, do business in and ultimately be proud of. And that starts with honest conversations about the city we call home.

Great conversation with @Osazomon the founder of @byosaz who moved from Newyork to Lagos to make a difference.

Uber leaving Nigeria is…. interesting.

But what’s more interesting to me is what happens after a global company leaves a market.

Who fills the gap? What actually works locally? What breaks? And where is the opportunity?

In my first 24 hours back in Lagos, I used a private driver, Bolt, and tested Voltaa.

Different price points. Different experiences. Different levels of reliability.

And it reminded me of something I keep learning while building between Nigeria and the U.S.:

The winning business here usually isn’t the one that copies a model that worked somewhere else. It’s the one that understands the infrastructure, behavior, payments, power, and realities of the market it’s actually serving.

That’s why I’m paying close attention to mobility, solar infrastructure, EV charging, local manufacturing, and the bigger question of what happens when Nigeria starts owning more of the value chain instead of just participating at the edges.

That conversation is next.

I also wrote a section of ‘Nobody Told Me’ about what it actually takes to move, operate, and build between Nigeria and the U.S.

Thinking about building between Africa and the U.S.? Comment ‘MOVE’ and I’ll send you the free excerpt I wish I had before doing it myself.

And I’m curious: why do you think Uber left Nigeria… and what do you think comes next? taken in Victoria Island, Lagos by @osazomon

Everybody is talking about Nigeria’s new diaspora mortgage.

But while researching it, I found something that surprised me…

Nigeria already has multiple government-backed housing programs—including the NHF Mortgage, Rent-to-Own, and a Home Renovation Loan.

So maybe the biggest issue isn’t that housing programs don’t exist.

Maybe it’s awareness.

Maybe it’s affordability.

Maybe it’s trust.

Launching a new mortgage is one thing.

Building a system people actually trust is something else.

That’s why I’m launching 🎙️ Money Mondays: Nigeria Edition.

Every Monday in August, I’ll be live on Instagram breaking down Nigerian investing, real estate, banking, entrepreneurship, and answering your questions.

Our first live: Nigeria’s new Diaspora Mortgage, building wealth in Nigeria, and whether I’d personally use these programs.

Future topics include: investing in the Dangote Refinery, Nigerian stocks, Treasury Bills, and building a business across Nigeria and the U.S.

What’s one Nigeria money topic you wish someone would explain without the rigamarole? 👇 taken in MetLife Stadium by @osazomon
