A post to sum up my 2025. It’s been one hell of a ride. Thankful for the people I met and worked alongside. Never imagined meeting so many kind souls and forming such meaningful connections. You know who you are. Ending the year with a feature film in Korea still feels unreal. Recent DP work for @dolla.official - MWA! Music Video It’s been a year and a half since my last music video, and this reminded me just how much I love doing these. My favorite scene is definitely the finale dance. It’s the only one where we choreographed lighting cues to escalate with the music, building up the energy as the track hits its peak. A project we shot back in 2022. The 50 Golden Finites, featuring Kim II Tae’s artwork made with 24 karat gold. Kim combines gold powder with natural oils and a custom adhesive, allowing the gold paint to be smoothly applied to the canvas and ensuring it won’t crack or fade over time. It was truly mesmerizing to witness these incredible art pieces in person and capture them on film Above the set was 4 x Aputure Nova P300C thru 20x20 overhead soft box. 6 x MAC Viper Performance heads on two 30ft truss each side 10ft away from the soft box. 1 x Arri M40, 3 x Aputure 600D with spotlight mount, 1 x Aladdin Flexible 3x3, 2 x Aladdin 2x1 on ground. UGLY MV for @dolla.official - Almost half a year after the last DOLLA project was taken down, Andrew came to me one day in July: “Want to do another DOLLA MV? Let’s make it big & bring it back to Malaysian culture with a twist.” That conversation led us to Mahsuri’s legend, a story of false accusation & a curse said to bring 7 gen of misfortune. Through DOLLA’s lens, we reimagined it as 3 misunderstood women reclaiming their power & rewriting their endings. Everything was shot in one long day, moving between forest, rumah kampung, makeshift blue sceeen, from hot sun to a night in the forest battling mosquitoes, then came roughly 100 VFX and 3D shots, with just over a month + for post. One thing that was constantly on my mind while executing this project is ‘Confident’. Gameplay is definitely an eye-catcher of the film, however I wanted to highlight the players’ mindset behind it, the quiet self-reflection, the composure under pressure, and that split-second decisions making happened in between. They were not just reacting to the game, they were moving with it. Those were the moments I seek out throughout the film. Huge thank you to everyone involved. Mitsubishi Xforce: Design. One of the 4 launch videos. Super hectic schedules, 4 boards in 3 days. Definitely one of the most challenging car shoots I’ve done. The entire video was framed in 9:16, which meant composing a horizontally shaped subject in a vertical format. Always fun when limitations push creativity.
