Dear Friends,

After 16 incredible years of creating slow handmade fashion in Ghana, it is with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to close Osei-Duro. The last few years have been very challenging for our industry, and we do not a see a way forward for the company in the current economy. We have tried every tool at our disposal, from seeking investment to austerity measures, but we simply cannot continue to make clothing that we believe in, in the face of tariffs, algorithm abandonment and inflation. (Let us know if you have a solution for us please!)

Osei-Duro has always been about more than clothing. We set out to build a business based on equitable partnerships with skilled collaborators that would celebrate and preserve Ghana’s rich textile heritage. We will be forever proud of the work we have done together, especially the income for textile artisans that Osei-Duro has generated.

We are grateful to you, our customers and community, who have always been so enthusiastic right along with us about all the important details; from plus sizing to hand dyeing processes to sustainable packaging to employment benefits. It has been a deep honor to make beautiful things with you and for you.

We don’t know yet what the future holds for all of us, but we are hopeful that our paths will cross again.

In the best news of the week, Prince has been accepted to a graduate program at RGU in Scotland!

Prince started out as a part time ironing assistant for Osei-Duro. Despite being in university full time studying business, He was such a motivated and capable employee that within a few short years he had worked his way up to Logistics Manager. Prince has been an invaluable part of our team and we are so proud of him for taking this next big step.

However, the visa process from Ghana is daunting. Prince needs to show he has enough in the bank to cover the full year’s expenses at his visa interview. Prince has been saving for this for several years, and has also won several scholarships, but he needs our support to get to the finish line and get to grad school!

Education is truly a passport, and this program will be transformative for Prince and his family.

At RGU Prince will be earning an MSC in Procurement and Supply Chain, building on his existing Business degree and the work he excelled at with us over the last five years. He is so ready for this, let’s make it possible!

Ok- last few styles sneaking in under the wire! A handful of last styles /sizes have surfaced, must sell by Thursday which is our last day.
These are mostly in size 2X, but the Veronica trousers do run about a full size small (2x waist is 37.5”), and there is amazingly one Letsa in Night Moves in S.

These will go fast, so make your move!

A massive and never ending thank you to these two epic humans, who have played such crucial roles in the last years of Osei-Duro’s existence. All Letsas are now under $200
The Letsa has been our all time best seller, so we made a lot, and there are still quite a few available. I know we are mostly down to the outsizes (XS, S, 4X), so I wanted to show the wide range of the fit. As a wrap dress the Letsa is pretty flexible!
I typically wear OD size M or L, but I can and do wear the Letsa in size S (especially when there is an unproduced sample I love, like in this photo). I am however terrible at taking photos of myself, so this is the best I could find of me in the size S Letsa. Hopefully it shows that it can work!
The tie is right under the bust and theres a little less to wrap, but its still very wearable.
FYI I’m 5’7” (170cm), with a 37” bust (94cm), 31” waist (79cm), and 42” hip (107cm).
All to say, if you don’t consider yourself an S, but rather an M or even a small L, and you want to snag our hit dress while it is at its lowest price ever, it might be worth a shot.
