Painting doesn’t belong to you.
It moves ahead of you. It shifts. It waits for you somewhere else.

And when you finally reach it, you understand:
it was never yours, you were only arriving to it.

This time, it was Shanghai.

A space where care became language:
precise, silent, necessary.
An elegance where everything is in its place.
Nothing extra. Nothing missing.

Thank you, @gene_gallery , for the sensitivity,
the attention to detail,
and the way you embraced the work.

To displace it was also to open it:
to another context, another gaze, another way of being.

There is a time within times.
Painting belongs to this disruption.

It is the human act that disrupts what has been calculated, that raises an image where none was expected.

Sometimes, another culture gives you its walls.
And in that gesture, something profound happens:
an image travels farther than the body that made it.

From Mexico to Shanghai, these paintings now stand within a civilization whose depth and poetry have long stirred my imagination.

In our exchanges around the exhibition, Pedro Páramo appeared from Shanghai, while from Mexico I called upon Han Shan. Two distant traditions recognizing each other through painting.

For a painter, there is a deep honor in this:
to raise an image on the walls of another world.

After being surprised, I have to clean my lenses, put them back on, and look again.A review by @laurentmoisi for @whitewall.art did exactly that.

I go through my practice as stubborn as a donkey chasing a carrot between realms of half-spoken topics and suddenly, I find myself reading a review and learning something new about my own work. The frequencies of the signals were downloaded with a delicate yet sharp translation. Something almost impossible to expect when one is not standing next to the paintings like an automata-concept-speaker.

The painting moved and spoke for itself, and a subtle spirit was able to bring it into words. As some say, the image goes before the concept.
