Brass Boer Curaçao | Blue Bay

In 2021 vroeg Blue Bay mij een ontwerp te maken voor Brass Boer, een bijzonder fun-diningrestaurant,
een concept van Jonnie en Thérèse Boer,
het iconische culinaire duo achter het driesterrenrestaurant De Librije.

Voor het ontwerp kozen we ervoor om verspreid over het strand losse, schaduwrijke palapa’s vorm te geven.. Intieme plekken waar gasten in alle rust kunnen lunchen, dineren, met de voeten in het zand en de Caribische Zee als decor.

De bar is opgebouwd uit pure, natuurlijke materialen: ruw versteend hout uit Indonesië, massief hout en prachtig groen kwartsiet uit Brazilië. Het ontvangstmeubel bestaat uit een lokale rots, gecombineerd met een zwevend houten element.
Alle materialen en interieurdetails zijn met zorg geselecteerd. Puur, eerlijk en zonder overdaad. Met als uitgangspunt om de omringende natuur én de verfijnde gerechten alle aandacht te geven die ze verdienen.
Een bijzondere plek waar architectuur, natuur en gastronomie samenkomen.

Met chef Andreas Péter aan het roer van de keuken en Jan Willem Berendsen als manager.

Dankbaar dat we dit project samen met Architect Henk Bolivar mochten maken.

BALANCING PEBBLES TOTEM H 190 -230 cm

Using large robotic arms, Osiris has pebbles woven, which he stacks like a pile of balancing stones.
The surface of the pebbles has a woven structure, just as baskets were made by craftsmen in the past; Hertman now has enormous robotic arms swing up and down and he throws the colored granules into the melting pot by feel.

The anatomy of a door handle

What appears effortless is often the result of the most considered design decisions.

CONE by Osiris Hertman is a study in how two distinct geometries can become one. A strong conical base meets a slender, precisely shaped lever, creating an unexpected contrast between volume and lightness.

Look closer, and the intelligence of the design begins to unfold. The cone conceals the technical construction, removing the need for a separate rosette and allowing the handle to emerge directly from the door. Nothing interrupts the silhouette, giving the entire form a sense of continuity.

Henk Bolivar architects + Osiris Hertman’s creatieve team brengen in dit project wereldse warmte + architectonische rust.
Verfijnde verhoudingen, rijke natuurlijke materialen. Donker gebrand hout ontmoet licht natuursteen, aardse tinten, tactiele structuren, maatwerk =rust + karakter.
De kracht zit in de details. In materialen die mooier worden met de tijd en vakmanschap dat je ziet én voelt. Persoonlijk, tijdloos.

Some seriously big wooden doors in the making.

These are being carved here at our workshop in Indonesia for a villa project in the Caribbean, designed by @osiris.

Working together with @differentdoors.garagedeuren, we are creating several doors, each with its own character and design.

Standing next to them, you really start to appreciate the scale.

For now, they are soaking up the Indonesian sun. Soon they will be making their way to the Caribbean.

Big up to Osiris Hertman for giving us the opportunity to show what we can do and to Different Doors for taking on the technical challenges.

It’s bespoke projects like these that push us all and result in something really, really amazing.

We can’t wait to see them in place.

Een motor aan de muur, leer in de slaapkamer en een miljoen euro aan verbouwingen. 🏠⁠

Architect en kunstenaar Osiris Hertman en Nynke van Dalsum kochten in 2024 een verouderd herenhuis in Haarlem voor €1,3 miljoen. Inmiddels is het pand omgetoverd tot een persoonlijk familiehuis van 310 vierkante meter, inclusief tiny house.⁠

Met vijf kinderen, een muziekkamer, wellness en volop eigen ontwerpen is dit meer dan een woning: het is Hertmans persoonlijke showroom. ‘Dit is het huis waar wij oud willen worden.’⁠
