Introducing @oskadraw • (interview link in bio)

•Is there a moment (real life or online) that shifted how you see people, and changed how you draw them?

I can’t think of a specific moment but rather a gradual want to keep myself outside a very constraining box with what I want to say and how I say it. I would hyper focus on how I draw characters before but in the last few years I’ve been wanting to let the message speak before anything else.

I do think about the work of Koji Morimoto a lot and how varied his style often is whilst his essence stays the same throughout. Seeing his work for the first time many years ago might have been the trigger to the way I approach art now.

•Do you think anime characters hold emotions differently than real people do? What part of that difference stays with you when you draw?

I believe if written or drawn properly, any characters of any medium will let the human creator shine through in a way that is, if not relatable personally, at the very least recognizable to anyone. The human touch is something I value a lot in my art and the art I love, it’s what makes you stop for a second while doom scrolling online for example.

I remember reading Naruto or watching FMA Brotherhood, and even though these characters are a part of fantastical worlds, their stories and what they go through was written by someone rooted in our reality. You can then see yourself in those stories and relate. I’d love to create something that reflects the same.

New print available in bio! If you want to support me and fill an empty spot on your wall, this is the best way 🙏

Proud of how this one turned out, and the fact that it was snowing while drawing this probably doesn’t mean anything. by @oskadraw

MODESTY//

Can you tell who inspired this? I want to start posting more without overthinking things, just drawing for the sake of drawing. Let’s see 🤷‍♂️
