I'll never get tired of seeing this thing rolling. I'm damn proud of how this thing sits. ❤️ Rolling home from the @clean_culture DMV season opener yesterday evening. 🚗 💨

Finally. After rocking my "OEM+" look for almost 3 years on my old Z40 Soarer wheels, it was time to take this car's look to the next level. But first, a little history lesson on myself and the significance of these wheels to me. Back in the late 90's/early 00's Veilside made a wheel called the Andrew Racing F. They were the wheels featured on Dom's RX-7 in the original FATF film and were often referred to as the "clock hand" wheels. They were also featured on all of Veilside's catalog 3000GT/GTO's on their website. For as long as I can recall, they have been my all time favorite wheel design. Unfortunately, in 2024 they are outright unobtabium. Not to mention that they were never offered in a 19" size which would prove problematic considering I wanted to run a flat lip to keep it true to the era, so I wouldn't want to rebuild a set of 18"s (with a stepped lip) even if I somehow managed to find a set. Thankfully, @gmrwheels answered my prayers with the release of their Verona wheel earlier this year. The spoke design is very reminiscent of the Andrew Racing F but has (in my opinion) a more modernized look featuring exposed lug nuts and a traditional center cap versus the Veilside's locking lug nut cover. Best of all, I was able to order them to my exact specification to achieve the look & fitment I've been yearning for. For anyone wondering, they're 19"x9.5" / 19"x10.5" w/ triple chrome faces & polished lips.

I want to give an enormous shout-out to the guys over at @novaspeedshop for helping me get this thing dialed-in to perfection. It wasn't easy getting these things to fit (especially the rears which admittedly are a smidge more aggressive than I anticipated 😅) but they made it happen with a little persuasion and a lot of patience. I also wanted to give a shout-out to @lowered_3000gt, @mike_stanceco, @ayoadrian_vr4 & @geniusgza for all of their fitment advice while I was spec'ing these things out. And lastly to @gmrwheels for their customer service and attention to detail. These things are literal jewelry. 💍

Getting in and out of my driveway without destroying my fenders is now an entirely new adventure, but I'm here for it. I'll see y'all out there. 🫡 by @osshwa

Tonight was pretty rad. @capitalmischief hosted an event at @crookedrunfermentation to commemorate the release of their collab beer, Mischief Maker (a strawberry banana sour ale), and to celebrate @misgvious's 30th birthday (welcome to unc-status homie). The beer, food and vibes were on point as always, but the highlight of my night was getting to park alongside @mischieftelevision and his infamous yellow Mazda MX-6. I have many fond memories of his car from my teenage years from the Teckademics DVD's, it's Super Street magazine feature and of course, it being featured on the cover of the OG Midnight Club PS2 game. It was definitely a full-circle moment being parked next to a car that has so much lore, and that undoubtedly influenced me and my journey into the import car scene all those years ago. Always a great time catching up with Dustin and it was a pleasure to finally get to see his car in person after all these years. 🤝

I'm approaching 6 months of owning this thing, and honestly, I find myself enjoying it more and more each passing day. The concept of an affordable, practical, decently quick and most importantly *quirky* daily driver that doesn't blend in with today's mundane grayscale NPC traffic is something that I feel eludes most people. I've done just about everything I had set out to do to it, save for some minor odds & ends that I will inevitably continue to tweak here and there. I can't wait to put this thing through its paces in the snow this winter. 🤙

Here's a quick summary of everything that's been done so far:

• @carlas.usa Sunflower Yellow PPF
• @modestanorthamerica coatings (body/wheels/windshield)
• @stek.usa ceramic window tint
• @circuitperformance CSF1 wheels & forged steel lug nuts
• @autoventshade in-channel vent visors
• @tufskinz tailgate & tailgate handle letters
• @rokblokz mud flaps
• @3dmatsusa Kagu all-weather custom fit floor liners
• @afepower Magnum Flow Pro DRY S air filter
• @gofastbits Mach 2 TMS recirculating diverter valve
• Sage Performance upper intercooler pipe
• @evillamotorsports front strut bar

Happy tuning. 💛

I've been seeing a lot of people sharing H2Oi nostalgia (since it always fell on the last weekend in September) so I figured I'd get in on the action. I know a lot of the twenty-somethings that follow me will claim that "Gat" was the peak experience for someone that's into slammed cars, but I can assure you that H2Oi during its prime was on an entirely different level altogether. Every hotel, restaurant, gift shop, coffee shop and anything in between on the 9 mile stretch of Coastal Highway would be jam-packed to the gills with some of the absolute raddest builds from all around the country. Hell, I even had the pleasure of meeting a handful people that flew in from other countries just to kick it in Ocean City for the week. Coastal Highway would have *thousands* of cars cruising the strip 8 lanes wide well into the wee hours of the night. It's honestly one of those things that was so "larger than life" that it's impossible to even put its scale into words. I had the genuine pleasure of attending a total of 8 times (2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020) in 3 different cars (Miata, SRT-6 & SX4) until ultimately it met its demise due to the TikTok-brain generation not knowing how to act like adults and ruining it for those of us that were there to relax, cruise and network with like-minded people.

I recently attended ASM down in the Outer Banks and in many ways, it felt very reminiscent of H2Oi. It was definitely nowhere near as big as H2Oi was, but seeing hundreds of slammed cars cruising up and down the strip and bouncing around to all the various pop-up meets up and down Highway 12 definitely made me feel a bit nostalgic. Yes, there were a bunch of cars with double-digit camber there (in place of the impossibly clean VW's/Audis that were the foundation of H2Oi) but that's just a product of the time and what's trending on social media at the moment. I thoroughly enjoyed ASM and will happily make the trip down to the Outer Banks again should it return.

Anywho, please enjoy this random assortment of pictures from my many trips up to Ocean City for H2Oi. *IG only lets you add 20 tags, so apologies to anyone I didn't tag. 🫶

And just like that, the weekend has come to a close. I'll be honest; I had no idea what to expect going into this. ASM wasn't originally on my radar of shows I had planned to attend, but when @road_ruiner informed me that they had an extra bedroom at the Stellar house, I decided to check it out. And boy am I glad that I did. Probably the closest thing to H2Oi that I've experienced following the demise of that once legendary week/weekend. The strip was packed with cars cruising at all hours of the day, pop-up meets all up and down Highway 12 and unmatched vibes. The 3000GT made the trip down and back flawlessly and received so much love....it honestly felt surreal.

A couple of special shout-outs:

⭐ Firstly, I want to extend a huge thank you to the guys & gals from @stellar.cg for offering up a room for @eheart33 and I to stay in, and for their hospitality.

⭐ To my wife @eheart33 for being a good sport while I drug her around to countless windy/cold parking lots, and for pulling some strings to secure us a second (useable) driveway for us to park our cars in upon discovering that our rental house's driveway was loosely based off of Mt. Everest. 😅

⭐ Next up is @battles.digital. It was so great to finally meet you, and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to chop it up with me about my car and our personal experiences within the automotive journalism space. Birds of a feather my friend. 🤝

⭐ @atlanticstreetmovement for hosting a killer event.

⭐ Can't forget @capitalmischief for organizing the cruise down.

⭐ And finally, to anyone and everyone that I had the opportunity to engage with throughout the week/weekend. The photographers that took shots of my car. Anyone that came up to me at one of the many meets and/or at the show itself to talk to me about my car. New friends, old friends and everyone in between. I'm truly grateful. 🫶

I had originally planned to include a bunch of pictures with this post, but if you've been following my stories I'm sure you've seen plenty of what the weekend had to offer by now. So please enjoy this *one* over-edited cell phone picture. ⛱️🌊

Until next time. 🙇‍♂️ Cheers. 🍻
