"I’m grateful for my Otahi instructors, including my Ateh Bella! I had so much fun + can’t wait to go back to Manahere next year! I learned from my parents to practice like it’s the real thing so that when it’s the real thing, it feels like practice! I felt I did my best + will join more comps!” 🖤

Otahi is not only my dance group, but my family. A bond that has grown greater than any other bond i have ever experienced. I’m forever blessed to be surrounded by such loving, caring, and supportive people! @otahimarama by @otahimarama

"This was my first time at Manahere and although this wasn’t my first competition, Manahere 2026 taught me that comps aren’t just about advancing/placing but also about showing up for others. Otahi’s “One Light” was so evident in our dancers, drummers, families, and friends through everything we did, whether it be cheering, making costumes, running around, teasing hair, giving pep talks, eating tons of food, and making memories that we’ll never forget. Given this I have so much gratitude and I can’t wait to do it all over again! I love my Otahi fam!!" by @otahimarama

This time last week we were celebrating each other and our dance community at Manahere! All the late nights, early mornings, costuming, training sessions, and core memories... All worth it! Amazing job to our Otahi competitors and our Halau Hula Pono sisters!!

Decided to pull the trigger about a month ago and compete solos after 12 years. Never thought I’d be back. This one hits different because I get to share my passion with my daughter and create these memories with her. I’m beyond proud of her experiencing her first of hopefully many competitions! Shout to my wife Raye for surviving her first comp as a dance mom. It’s not easy. And she’s been holding it down like a pro from making costumes, wiping tears and being the best cheerleader. #OtahiMarama #Manahere2026 taken in Milpitas, California by @otahimarama
