There's just this feeling of satisfaction when the female character finally becomes wicked and chooses herself.
I just wish Nnu Ego in Joys of motherhood became wicked. 😩

Hello readers,😌

Many months, no read. I'm sorry guys. 😪

I bring to you this interesting, Yoruba mythology that has left my head ringing and my chest doing gbim gbim.

Now now, I'm not usually one for African mythology because you all know why(side eye😏) but I don't think it hurts to read one.

I came across *Shigidi and The brass Head of Obalufun* by Wole Talabi and I said why not?

This is a story about Shigidi; a mini god that is filled with self loathing, the maker of nightmare dedicated to the Orisha Spirit company. Life becomes beautiful when he falls in love with Nneoma, a succubus (of course she had to be an Igbo woman 😂). Now this love affair makes him want to leave the company and this draws the wrath of 'olorun'. Before they will be free, they have steal the brass Head of Obalufun from the British museum.
Wahalaaarrr no too much...
If I were a mythology fan, I would rate it a serious 7.5/10.

Now don't get too confused about the switching timelines okay?. It's just to show you Shigidi's past and all that.

Royal scars by @qudrahadam

What do you mean that Prince sultan had finally began to heal and was willing to live happily with Aisha; only for him to lose his new memories and remember his old ones again just when he was about to get married to her?????????🙆😩

Hello readers,☺️

Happy new month and welcome to this month's read. 👐

And the first on the list is Better Never than Late by Chika Unigwe.

I remember telling a friend when I started this book that I didn't know what was going on.
But I later took a step back and realized that this book is a collection of short stories but interconnected in a way.

There's this thing with short stories that leaves you hanging and anxious. It's an author's way of teasing i would say.

My favorite story in this book was 'Becoming prosperous ", a story about a couple who moves to Belgium to begin life anew after encountering crisis in Jos. In this short story , memories of who she was in Nigeria keeps her comforted especially as her husband changes from the man she once loved to an abuser.

Another short story I found fascinating was "cunny man die, cunny man bury am". Here a man named Godwin gets married to a young Belgian woman named Tine so he could get a Belgian passport.

Better never than late, I would say gives voice to topics that are preferably unheard of and gives a wonderful insight on what it is to be a woman.

This book had me creating alternate ending for all the stories. 🥹
A solid 7/10 for me. ✨

Hellooo readers,☺️

Seems like April is nice because what are these reads I'm bringing your way.🤭🤭

Now today's read is the most controversial, unusual read of the year I have read.

Season of crimson blossoms by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim is a story of a taboo relationship between 55 year old widow, Binta Zubairu and 25 year old thug, Hassan popularly known as Reza. This is an unusual story which explores various themes such as love, trauma, loss, the plateau violence, politics in Nigeria, family issues and death.
Now this book is centered in a conservative Hausa community where a lot is frowned upon.
Binta honestly went through a lot in this book as the losses she suffered are unbearable. I wish Reza went to school. I wanted to see Fa'iza heal. I wanted Hureira to save her marriage but the messiness of the whole book is what makes it realistic. It's all shades of black, white, grey and whatever color you want to paint it.

I honestly wish to do a video discussing this story because writing about it doesn't do it justice, as there's plenty things to talk about.

It has so many take home words and phrases and I honestly think you should keep a dictionary and a translator close by when reading.😁

My take home phrase was and I quote :
"We are like clothes. We get rumpled and squeezed and torn, sometimes irreparably. Some of us are stitched up,patched up while others are discarded. Some clothes are fortunate, others are not. They are born into misfortune, ink spills and what nots."

A solid 8 out of 10.

Now what would you do if you had an arranged marriage to a man you've never met?

Hello readers 😌,

I'm back and I came prepared with this captivating read.🤭 Now say thank you...

What if you had an arranged marriage to a man and you're told you had to keep him and take him from another woman and that woman was made up into a monster and then you fall for your supposed husband and your husband loves you and her and he refuses to commit fully to you and then you get pregnant and you make him choose between you and his mistress and he chooses you but continues to see his baby mama without you knowing and you think you finally have him hooked and then you discover that he had been lying all along and he never ended things with his mistress.........

Whewww😂 that was a lot but that is the story of Afi, a twenty years old seamstress from Ho who was married to an absentee husband. Afi was made to know right from the start that her job is to steal her husband from a woman named Mena and it was a whole lotta drama.

This is my first Ghanian read since Ama Ataa Aidoo and honestly I would give @peacemedie her medal for this incredibly read.

A solid 8/10.👌👌👌

Now this song resonated with me when reading this book so yeahhh.

Hello readers🤭,

Yeah I know, I kinda ghosted.
And I'm sorry.🥺

Well, I am back....
And I brought with me this read...(kicks feet in excitement 😁😁)

Now if you enjoy Nigerian romance with humour and a razzle dazzle of rebellion and courage, then here you have it - The bishop's prodigal daughter by Timendu Aghahowa.

Now this love story is between Elo, the senior daughter of a bishop and the daughter who shakes everywhere and how she gets together with Dantonye, the son of the pastor of her mother's rival church.... Dramatic right?

When Elo had attended her friend's wedding in December never would she have imagined being a pastor or even faking being a pastor but along comes her mother's failing health and Dantonye's smile and body.😏

I loved every line and sentence from this book.😁
With the cheeky moments, quarrels and romantic declarations it was a solid 8/10 for me.

I wouldn't mention Elo's sister because I didn't like her but I would love to read her own love story too though.

Now this song is what I imagine playing in Elo's head whenever she is close to Dantonye.🤭

Hello readers,☺️

It's Friday and I decided to go back in time for this read.😁

After several years and this book still hits hard.

One week, one trouble is a children's storybook about an eleven years old boy who got into secondary school and had to move to boarding school far away from home.
Wilson Tagbo AKA Soapy Willie is one hell of a bundle of trouble.😂
From inhaling laughing gas, to breaking several house rules will he be able to survive secondary school?😏
If you're looking for nostalgic comedy, here you have it.

A solid 10/10 every single time.👌 by @otitodili

Happy new year Readers.🤗☺️

Long time, no read.😩

I have missed sharing my reading thoughts, so I'm starting again gently.Vee reads is back.😌💃💃

I'm beginning with convenience store woman by sayaka murata. Now if you are looking for a think outside of the box book? Well here you have it.

Convenience store woman by Sayaka murata is a quirky, funny and slightly annoying book. It tells a story about a young woman who has a different view of the world from childhood. Well, she eventually learnt to blend into society by imitating people so as not to be seen as weird.
Keiko furukura was a convenience store worker from 18years old and had worked for 18 years in the convenience store. She had a routine of her life planned out from working in a convenience store. That is until she meets the good for nothing, useless riffraff -surhaya. He almost completely ruins her whole life and I'm glad Keiko snapped out of it.

This book is so different from the regular books I read and I'm glad I took a chance at it.
A solid 7/10.💪
