Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening on July 3rd evening. It was a pleasure to celebrate the artists and their works together with you!The exhibition remains on view until July 26. We warmly invite you to visit Oud House if you have a chance.Featuring works by Misha Stevenson, Minne Ponsen, Finn Emmen, and Nikki Vroom, ᴅᴏᴏʀꜱᴘʏ looks through the small glass lens of the door spy as if through a fixed eye. Observing passing bodies, watching over the household, and directing its gaze both inward and outward, the door spy becomes a quiet witness to the everyday.In this exhibition, the viewer crawls into the skin of a door spy to observe a fictional household. Walls, textiles, interiors, people, and everyday objects appear as embodiments and carriers of personification. ᴅᴏᴏʀꜱᴘʏ looks through the small glass lens of the door as if through a fixed eye.Observing passing bodies, watching over the household, and directing its gaze both inward and outward, the doorspy becomes a quiet witness to the everyday. It separates observer and visitor by only a thin door, creating an experience that feels unexpectedly intimate, familiar, and strange.In this exhibition, the viewer enters the perspective of a doorspy to observe a fictional household. PIET ROOK. De tentoonstelling The Photography of Piet Rook gaat vergezeld van een rijke, nieuw samengestelde catalogus. Deze publicatie is geen herdruk van eerder materiaal, maar een nieuwe selectie en documentatie van Rooks oeuvre uit de jaren tachtig, samengesteld door Paul Groenendijk, Frank Hanswijk en Lennart Arpots.De catalogus bevat:☑️Bijna 100 foto’s, grotendeels uit Rooks werk voor architecten als Carel Weeber, Jan Hoogstad en Mecanoo.☑️Thematische ordening rond abstractie, geometrie, stadsvernieuwing en de visuele identiteit van het nieuwe Rotterdam.☑️Contextuele essays over Rooks rol in de polemiek rond de omstreden architectuur van de jaren tachtig.Historische duiding van zijn positie als autodidact fotograaf en uitgesproken stem in het architectuurdebat.De catalogus functioneert als het eerste nieuwe, omvangrijke overzicht van Rooks werk sinds de jaren tachtig.Het boek is te koop (€19,90) bij Oud House en in de boekhandel van de Rotterdam Architectuurmaand (in het Keilepand). Visitors are taken back to a moment when the city shifted away from social ideals and the human scale, embracing sleek, abstract and often controversial forms. In this turbulent period, a new generation of architectural photographers emerged, with Piet Rook as one of its most distinctive voices.
