Workweek 2026 in the books 📚

We kicked off the year by welcoming our freshmen, sharpening up with speaking and skills drills, building out DA files and affs, learning counterplan theory, and putting it all together in practice rounds.

Looking to improve your debate skills this summer?

The University of Oklahoma Debate Team is hosting two fully online summer camps this July:

LD Camp: July 13–19
PF Camp: July 20–26

Open to incoming 6th–12th graders from Oklahoma and beyond.

Students will participate in:
• live Zoom lectures and discussions
• practice debates
• skills labs and prep work
• personalized instruction from experienced lab leaders

Our staff has experience coaching state champions, state finalists, and national finalist in both Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum.

$300 per camp
Fully online — join from anywhere.

Our next member spotlight is Daven Daniel!
Daven Daniel is a Criminology major with a minor in Social Justice and a member of the OU Pre-Law Scholars program. Now in his fifth year of debate and first year of Policy, Daven competed at The University of Oklahoma tournament with fellow freshman Rhianna Bruner in Novice and made it to Quarterfinals! Some of his notable achievements include qualifying for the OSSAA state tournament 4 times and earning bronze in Public Forum Debate. He enjoys debate because it pushes him to develop a deep understanding of a wide range of topics and to learn how to communicate effectively. Our next member spotlight is Luis! Luis is a second-year member of our team, and we’re excited to highlight his experience and accomplishments. Luis began debating eight years ago at Evanston Township High School before continuing at Oakton Community College, where he reached quarterfinals of CEDA in his first year as part of a hybrid team.
Now in his second year at OU after transferring from Oakton, Luis plans to attend law school and sees debate as central to that path. He has competed at three CEDA national tournaments and attended the NDT last year. This past semester, Luis earned 7th Speaker at the University of Houston tournament, where he and his partner Ashlyn Davis advanced to octofinals. He enjoys debate for the way it sharpens his advocacy and allows him to develop his voice through high-level competition taken in The University of Oklahoma by @oudebate

First half at KU, second half at K-State.
JV had a great weekend and closed out at K-State with FD 🥇 and BW 🥈. Our open team jumped into a tough field this swing and got some important experience along the way 💪
