CBN PhD student Brenna Arledge co-first authored a publication with Dr. Erin Casey (OU College of Education) highlighting the positive impact of a free play intervention on socio-emotional processing, as measured by both teacher report and EEG, in elementary school children. OU Psychology co-authors include CBN grad students Farima Naghash, Dana Mahmoud, Rachana Rajala, alumnus Dr. Jordan Norris, and Dr. Lauren Ethridge. The OU Free Play Lab project was funded by OU’s ICAST Seed Grant to Drs. Casey, Ethridge, and Carlson. by @oudeptpsych

Congratulations to psychology junior Anaé Fong-Yan. Anaé recently presented her honors thesis “Missed opportunities: Do older workers take advantage of AI to change their jobs differently than younger workers?” at the 44th Annual Conference of the Oklahoma Psychological Society and won the first-place prize for undergraduate student paper and oral presentation. Here she is holding up her first-place, $100 check alongside graduate student mentors Brandon Choi and Piper Winsett. In addition to working on her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology with Honors, Anaé is minoring in Organizational Leadership and earning a certificate in Applied Statistics. Congratulations to FYRE students Rosanna Chau and Abigail Clark, both in Dr. Ethridge’s lab, who presented posters on their research at Undergraduate Research Day on April 16th. Rosanna’s project examined resting brain activity measures in adults as they related to their experiences of childhood adversity, and Abigail’s project examined genetic and environmental impacts on similarities between parent-child dyads on brain measures of attention regulation. by @oudeptpsych

Dr. Zhao is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Ohio University, whose work focuses on intergroup relations, including conflict, prejudice, and cooperation.⁠
