Today, we’re excited to share our latest report: Africa’s Cross-Border Payment Landscape — a deep dive into the systems, players, and the shifts shaping Africa’s cross-border payment flows.

🔍 Inside the report:
💸 $20 Billion in Intra-African Remittances (2022): Intra-African remittances, driven by trade and migration, hit $20B, underscoring the growing importance of regional payment corridors.

📲 60-80m Transactions Monthly: Africa’s remittance market is dominated by low-value, high-frequency transactions averaging $200–$400 each, totaling an estimated 60-80 million monthly transactions.

⚡ Fintech Impact - 71% of Mobile Remittance Value Originates in Africa: Digital transfers have slashed formal remittance fees from 7.4% to as 3% or lower, saving African families up to $5B a year.

🌐 Interoperability is the Next Big Opportunity:
API-driven solutions enabling bank-to-wallet and fintech-to-fintech connectivity are unlocking seamless digital trade, with players like Cauridor and Flutterwave.

🧾 Informal Flows Still Dominate:
Informal channels still account for 35%–75% of total remittance flows. Formalization of these will be key to unlocking true market size.

Our Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Olu Oyinsan, was at Lagos Business School, where he facilitated a session with participants of the Chief Executive Programme (CEP 31).

The session, titled “Innovation Accounting in Turbulent and Uncertain Times: An Investor’s Perspective,” explored how businesses and investors can make better decisions in an unpredictable environment.

From changing investment trends to the difference between valuation and value, the session covered a lot of ground.

But what made it particularly engaging was the lively exchange of ideas, questions, and perspectives from the participants.

A big thank you to @lbsnigeria for the invitation and to everyone who made the session such an engaging one. by @ouicapital

Look who came by the office! 👋🏾

We had the Co-founders of Alliance Chemicals, Taiwo Ilesanmi and Gbenga Akanmu, stop by for a visit.

They spent some time with Kamsy Osakwe, Director at TAG by Oui Capital, and Sele Ayebawanaemi, Senior Analyst, Corporate Finance.

Building a company will teach you some hard lessons. Some you learn the easy way. Others, you learn the expensive way.

Over the course of our conversations on OuiTalkPod, our guests have shared valuable perspectives on what it takes to build, fund, and scale a business. We pulled together six pieces of advice that stood out to us.

From why the highest valuation isn't always the best deal to why grit can matter more than genius, these are six lessons worth sitting with.

A few weeks ago, Condia took a closer look at how we’re using AI at Oui Capital.

We thought it was worth bringing the story back, this time with a little more context for founders.

So, what happens to your pitch after you send it to us?

From sourcing and pre-screening to due diligence, OuiOS helps our investment team process more information and move faster.

But there’s one stage AI doesn’t own:
The final call.

A machine can read your deck.
It can analyse a market.

It can work through a data room.
But it can’t decide whether you’re the kind of founder who can build through a difficult market.

That judgement stays with our investment team.

Want to understand how OuiOS works? Read the Condia story via the link in our bio.

And if you want our team to take a look at your deck, Pitch Deck Reviews are now open. Submit yours through the link in our bio. by @ouicapital

Alliance Chemicals didn't just smash goals; they completely obliterated them.

Founded by two friends who spent their careers at BASF Germany and Dow in the USA, Alliance is building a stronger chemical supply chain for African manufacturers in an industry that sits quietly behind almost everything we consume.

Curious about the companies we're backing and the thinking behind our investments?

Comment “OUI” and we'll send you more. by @ouicapital

We built something that will help us say Oui faster.

At Oui Capital, we’re passionate about finding extraordinary companies early and building with them every step of the way.

But doing that well takes a lot of work. There are companies to discover, markets to research, decks to review, founders to understand, and a whole lot of information to process.

So we built Oui Capital OS, an AI-powered operating system designed to help us see great companies earlier, move faster, and spend more time helping founders build.

AI isn’t replacing our investment team. It isn’t deciding which startups we invest in.

It’s helping us do the work around those decisions better.

We recently spoke to @thecondia (link in bio) about what we’re building and why.

We’ll be sharing more about Oui OS as we go.
