I’m treating myself to a day at home today , I’m going through some chores slowly, I deserve to, my fingers are so very sore it kept me awake last night due to my burns . I’m hoping they heal quickly because I’m back working tomorrow then Tuesday. Why do I feel guilty for sitting down so much ? I’m going to just carry on bit by bit and all will be done , have a wonderful new year , all the very best , I don’t particularly like NYE , so probably will be just relaxing maybe watch a couple of movies m glass of wine . Chin chin everyone 🎉🍾🥂. Xx by @our_tiny_cottage_

Long time no see . It’s been an incredibly busy time since returning from our little 4 night trip to Scandinavia. And now I’m so lost for words to see a dear friend on palliative care 🥺. My thoughts are with her family, it’s devastating. Iv been working 7 days a week since coming back and I’m trying to get some time to message my friends and family as I hate not putting them in the picture of what’s going on atm , iv just nipped home to cook a Sunday roast, catch up on some washing and vacuum our home before my work continues caring for mother and a little job I have to do at the end of today . I enjoy keeping busy , it takes my mind of things and helps me mentally too . Since returning from our trip Iv felt so much better in myself, it did me the world of good having a well needed break and thanks to my daughter for arranging it all I really appreciate it. It’s given me inspiration to do it again as when caring for a parent 7 days a week twice a day plus working can really take its toll on you , and it really did and I’m still grieving the loss of my dad and taking some of his ashes to Scandinavia and scattering them really felt special and on my next trip il be taking more and wherever in the world i go il take a bit of him , he loved traveling . Anyway id better get finished as iv a lot to do stay well take care 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝 by @our_tiny_cottage_

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, life’s not been good this year , my dad passed on April 5th and since then it’s gone downhill, iv been riddled with grief, anxiety and basically just putting one foot in front of the other and living day to day , I’m working and now caring for my mother which is 7 days a week tending to her twice a day and all day Tuesday and Friday it’s not easy and we’ve had some testing moments as I’m exhausted. She refuses outside help I’m an only child so it’s me myself and I. It’s incredibly hard working so hard to pay the bills and caring . I’m living my life around my mother and don’t get chance to go anywhere or do anything I want to do anymore, I’m doing what my dad did in less hours . I’m grateful my mother is here and blessed, but after 4 years of caring for her and now doing it more hours is tough but it is what it is and I need to make a plan for myself. 💝🩵💝🩵💝🩵💝🩵 by @our_tiny_cottage_

How beautiful are these flowers I had gifted a few weeks ago, I had to take a picture, I love the faded vintage look of them and the little mini roses amongst the larger blooms. I’m currently drying them and there looking so beautiful. Can’t wait to display them and send her a picture of them . Enjoy the glorious weather 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 by @our_tiny_cottage_

Hope your having a great Sunny ☀️ bank holiday, the past two months have been incredibly difficult and the past couple of weeks it’s finally hit me that dad won’t be coming back. Grief is incredibly intense at times and hits you like a train! But I guess in time it gets a bit more bearable, hopefully. I’m run into the ground with a chest infection , a cold , and feeling so fatigued 🫩, I’m never ill but this is flooring me! My mum is having physio therapy in hospital before there sure she can go home and not be at risk of falling after her hip replacement. Anyway I had to share these beautiful roses as there stunning and my favourite shade , also some ranunculus that iv never had before and wanted some for years and years but there hard to get hold of here . And a lady who owns a florist in Leeds sent them too me , over the weeks iv been gifted some incredibly beautiful flowers which I’m so so grateful for. I love fresh , dried flowers I’m currently drying some and iv pressed some for framing too . Il be doing another post on some tea special flowers I had gifted me in my next post . Take it easy , enjoy every moment in this glorious weather as it’s beautiful. Sending much love to you all 💝🌺🌸🥀💐🌷🌞 by @our_tiny_cottage_

The sun is shining and I love April and may they were my favourite months but after the last 4 weeks I don’t think they are my favourite months anymore 😩, after seeing my dad suffer so much and him passing and the day after his funeral on Friday my mum got rushed into hospital and had a broken hip and had to have an emergency hip replacement surgery, struggling to care for her needs as an only child and having to take a month of work and now seeing her in such a bad place is taking its toll . It’s been so hectic looking after mum full time and now with this set back I’m not sure I can care for mum , work full time , plus I have my family is incredibly difficult. I’m going to need extra hands to help me . Iv been helping mum 4 years since her first knee replacement back in 2022 , fast forward to now 2026 and she’s become dependent on me but dad isn’t here now , it’s going to be a long road to recovery for mum as she’s already frail , iv just taken this morning to breath . It’s been so full on . Iv not hard time to greave, come to terms with loosing my father and then straight into back to the hospital. My mind is blank , numb , I haven’t cried yet , I’m empty , iv not taken care of myself, I need to kick myself in the butt and get a grip , get showered , wash my hair , try and keep being strong . I need some energy. Any tips are welcome 🙏 so sorry this is depressing to read but it’s life I guess , we all go through it and have to ride this storm . 💔 by @our_tiny_cottage_

28.04.1943-05.04.2026 my dad passed and fought like a warrior throughout his two weeks in hospital suffering from heart failure and kidney failure, he went into hospital with pneumonia and a blood clot on his right lung . He was so so brave as he endured so many brutal tests and treatments to try and save his life , unfortunately his heart was so weak and they couldn’t save both heart and kidneys together. I’m immensely proud of him and will from now until eternity. Rest in peace dad . Love you so much from myself and our family 💔💔💔💔💔💔🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️ by @our_tiny_cottage_

Hope your all well , what a beautiful sunny day it is , these past few weeks have been very physically challenging i have to say , I’m crippled with arthritis and in so much pain , to think I have another 6 years of working like this really bothers me plus caring for elderly parents on top of work is hard but we somehow manage it and carry on , last Saturday my daughter took me out for brunch which was so lovely, it was nice to get a break and have something made for you , it was delicious. This morning iv had to catch up with my own housework, washing etc and have a little faff which i enjoy doing , later one when I return from mums I’m going to tidy our backyard, my daughter has plans for it and it’s really exciting as it’s just a blank canvas atm , looking forward to transforming it .whatever your doing enjoy it and have a wonderful weekend ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ by @our_tiny_cottage_

Hi everyone iv not been on for a little while as life’s in the fast lane . Iv just finished cleaning top to bottom, iv been especially busy in the kitchen shelve changing, faffing around. Anyway all dust and dusted for now . Just having a reward of a cuppa tea ☕️and a sit down before I head to sort mum out with her self care . Enjoy the rest of your weekend sending good health and happiness vibes to you 😘💝💙💝💙💝💙💝 by @our_tiny_cottage_

Hi everyone. Just finished cleaning through and why not post some little pics, all back to normal apart from balloons 🎈 I put up for my daughters 20th birthday last Sunday which il leave up a day or two longer . It’s such a beautiful day today in rainy Manchester . January is a tough month being just after Christmas, several family birthdays as the finances are low this time , iv still been caring for my mum and doing the odd job between the festive period but it’s all back to normality now and saving up to pay the bills . It’s my big 60th this month but I’m keeping it quiet as I don’t like fuss . Il probably be working as per 😂. But I just wanted to jump on here quick and share bits of my home that give me pleasure and to feel safe and cosy through the remaining winter weeks . Have a lovely rest of your weekend whatever it is your doing , I’m in mum duty now so better make a start 🫶💝🫶💝🫶💝🫶 by @our_tiny_cottage_
