Trump brags about the shutdown as a tool to kill off social programs. He proudly admits to closing down what he calls “Democrat programs” — many of which provide vital support to working families, vulnerable communities, and public institutions. This isn’t about budgeting. It’s about dismantling social safety nets and cheering on the suffering it causes in order to score political points. Once again, Trump is upfront about using power not to govern, but to punish his political enemies—and everyday Americans are paying the price. #shutdown #trumpnews #politicsreels #governmentshutdown #socialprograms #budgetcrisis #democracyatstake #economicjustice #uspolitics #trumpexposed by @ourcommunitymedia

While millions of federal workers went unpaid during a record-breaking government shutdown, Trump threw a party for Senate Republicans in a renovated Rose Garden. As families struggled to pay rent and museums closed their doors to kids, he bragged about his self-funded ballroom and the "music" of construction funded by his own wallet—because apparently, priorities. This isn’t leadership. It’s a tone-deaf spectacle that highlights the GOP’s disconnect from working Americans, all while Trump blamed Democrats for a crisis his own administration engineered. #governmentshutdown #trump #senaterepublicans #whitehouse #politicsreels #accountability #workingfamilies #rose garden #civilrights #shutdownstories by @ourcommunitymedia

"Arrest governors now"? Trump ally Stephen Miller just went full authoritarian on Fox, suggesting Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker could be charged with “seditious conspiracy” for defending immigrants and not bowing to federal overreach. Miller’s chilling message to ICE: you’re above the law. These are not normal talking points—they're threats aimed at criminalizing compassion, targeting political opponents, and laying the legal groundwork for a campaign of fear aligned with Trump’s far-right agenda. #ICE #immigrationlaw #governor #jbpritzker #stephenmiller #ruleoflaw #federalism #authoritarianism #politics #trumpagenda by @ourcommunitymedia

Megadonors have now put $2.3 billion into the midterms, and Elon Musk leads all of them.

Musk is now the largest individual political donor in American history, and six donors total have each given over $100 million. In Maine's Senate race alone, more than 100 billionaires have funneled over $10 million to Susan Collins — a third of all her campaign contributions — while Jackson's billionaire support totals just $17,500, with 95% of his donations under $100.

Pete Hegseth argued the U.S. military deserves the Nobel Peace Prize — every single year.

The comment came during a conversation about the military's role in global stability, with Hegseth framing armed strength as the foundation of peace. It's a position that cuts against how the Nobel Peace Prize has traditionally been awarded, which has rarely gone to military institutions.

Do you think military deterrence qualifies as peacemaking in the Nobel Committee's terms?

Trump described physically examining Ohio GOP Senate candidate Jon Husted at a rally, checking his jawline, shoulders, hands, and feet before patting him on the back.

Husted has reportedly gained 9-10 points in polls since Trump spoke about him this way at the event. The comments were delivered to a crowd Trump was framing as a show of his endorsement power.

Trump added that Husted's shoulder felt "like a piece of steel" and joked he was still recovering his hand from the pat.

Trump described physically sizing up Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted at a rally, saying "I examined his ass" before looking at his shoulders, feet, hands, and jawline.

The comment came as Trump was explaining why he thinks Husted has the physical presence for political leadership. The clip is drawing attention partly because of the contrast with how presidential rhetoric has been framed historically.

The full quote makes clear he meant a physical assessment — but the phrasing landed exactly as awkwardly as you'd expect.

Cuban Ambassador to the U.N. Ernesto Soberó accused Secretary of State Marco Rubio of having an "unhealthy obsession with Cuba" during remarks about U.S. pressure ahead of a key UN vote.

The vote, scheduled for October 27-28, concerns a resolution against the U.S. blockade of Cuba — an annual vote that typically draws significant international attention. Soberó says Rubio has been personally contacting foreign governments to pressure them into changing their positions before the vote.

Cuba is calling the effort a "campaign of political bullying and intimidation" targeting the sovereign decisions of UN member states.

Israeli settlers confronted an 84-year-old CBS journalist last week, asking if she was "with Hamas." Today, a different group of settlers physically attacked Heidi Levine, an American journalist with The Washington Post.

Both incidents involve American journalists reporting in the West Bank. Lesley Stahl was on assignment for 60 Minutes when a settler challenged her on camera. Levine's attack came just days later in the same region.

$86 million meant for teen pregnancy prevention was redirected to a single contractor with ties to the Trump administration, according to an NPR investigation.

The local nonprofits, clinics, and school districts that had been delivering these programs in their communities received no warning before the funding was pulled. The contractor's political connections are now drawing scrutiny over how the contract was awarded and who benefited.

What process, if any, was followed before cutting off organizations that communities had relied on for years?

Trump said he applies his own makeup and wears very little of it, making the comments while criticizing Senator Jon Ossoff's reported spending on makeup and a makeup artist.

Trump claimed Ossoff "spends more money on makeup than any man or woman in the history of the Senate" — though that figure is unverified. The remarks came during a rally-style speech where Trump positioned his own minimal makeup use as a contrast to his political opponents.

Does Ossoff's actual FEC spending data back up the claim?

Rep. Robert Garcia says investigating the Trump family would be the top priority if Democrats win back the House in 2026.

Garcia named specific targets: Trump's crypto dealings, Jared Kushner's reported $2 billion from Saudi Arabia, payments tied to Don Jr.'s wedding from Russian oligarchs, and Pentagon contracts connected to family members. He also said any American company that worked with the Trumps and is tied to corruption would face scrutiny — not just the family itself.

Garcia said the first hearings are still being planned, but the starting point is clear.
