There’s a few new faces around here (hello, I’m Emma👋) so I thought I’d share the journey of Our Curated Abode, often abbreviated to OCA, so far.

It’s been a long while of working at least 6 days a week, so this year I am hoping for a holiday and a bit more life balance, but every little step has been worth it to get to this point. Hope you enjoy your time at the abode!

*Some date typos in here, but I’ll be damned if I’m redoing this: I did the pop-up in December 2023 and soft launched in August 2024! by @ourcuratedabode

Sometimes I forget that I built @ourcuratedabode from scratch. Thank goodness for managing to record some of the very long process, and thank goodness for never being afraid to learn new things, start again and always follow your wildest dreams.

Perhaps this year I’ll use my own store to tick off all the DIY and decorating jobs in my own abode 😂 by @ourcuratedabode

Everything we did at Our Curated Abode during October.

Tried some new things out, made some big decisions, and made the month was still full of furry friends (always!).

I’ll always be grateful for the support from all of ya that allow me to do the thing I love on a day to day basis ❤️

THE WITCH IS BACK, BABY! 🧙🏻‍♀️ by @ourcuratedabode

Thought you knew all you needed to know about brooms? Think again! In celebration of @visitramsgate’s Autumn Festival, we’re running a ‘Dark Deal’ on broomsticks with 13% off until the 1st November (and they’re all under £20 anyway!).

Don’t forget you can also join us on Saturday 31st October for the @addington_street trick or treat trail. From one witch to another, which one will you be riding on? by @ourcuratedabode

Things you didn’t expect our homeware and hardware store to sell: Part 7!

We’ve officially moved into one of the quieter months of the year, so here’s your reminder of all the things you use on a daily basis that WE SELL! From your bin bags to your white vinegar (my hero!), we’ve got lots of pick me ups that you need, but make all the difference to our end of day totals. We’ve just had a huge restock of Miniml products and we always have EcoLiving natural cleaning ingredients in too.

Just a wee reminder that every little helps, and you don’t need to apologise for only spending a few pounds. That’s what we’re here for! ❤️ by @ourcuratedabode

I practise what I preach when it comes to buying furniture - even when it’s for the shop - and I’ll always wait for exactly the right thing to come by, way before buying new or building something extravagant.

I’ve spoken before about needing storage for our bits and bobs, and to a certain extent we’ve managed to get homes for most things. The last few bits have been a struggle though and many of you who have bought screws will have seen the awful behind the curtain setup that tends to see us all searching for 10 minutes to then charge you 50p at the end of it all.

Nevertheless, I’m a firm believer in the right things coming your way when you take your time, and when these Serota drawers landed on my FB Marketplace, I knew they had to be mine! Cue a complete reshuffle of the shop, and a Sunday of sorting for @danisapphireknox. We’re very nearly there, with a few more tweaks to come. Thanks to @margoinmargate for filling the blank wall space left at the end of it all with our very own OCA dog! by @ourcuratedabode

LONDON, we’re coming for you!

This Saturday, I’m packing up our best vintage selection and heading to @ourstokeymarket. We’ll have vintage entertaining items, trinkets, and a few of our signature toolboxes so that you can get ahead on your festive shopping.

Come join us and lots of other amazing preloved sellers and makers ❤️

I think we can call the 6th October the beginning of October, right? Just some small updates this month, but we’re getting ready for Christmas BIG TIME!

I haven’t managed to get any new items on the website in a long while, so if you see anything you fancy, just give me a nudge. by @ourcuratedabode

Nothing, I repeat nothing, beats the low and soft sun in here. It’s a magic kind of glow that’s impossible to package up and we only get it two months of the year for an hour a day. by @ourcuratedabode

Everything we did at Our Curated Abode during September from counting 2805 hooks to celebrating the final @addington_street Vintage Trail of the year.

Other highlights included painting a plate at @minniemaestudio’s gorgeous shop (can’t wait to get this back!) and a brief trip to London Design Festival to soak up some inspiration.

I’m really excited for October and the lead up to Christmas - things are in the pipeline! by @ourcuratedabode
