From the tiny Golden Retriever puppy I brought home on Day 1 to the beautiful senior girl beside me today..

You taught me how to be gentle. How to have so much patience. How to understand, even when you couldn’t tell me what you needed and most of all, how to love unconditionally.

I think a big part of the mum I am to my human kids today is because you taught me how to be the kindest mum first. ❤️

I’ll always be here for you, Tequila.

WE JUST FOUND OUT TEQUILA HAS BEEN FEATURED… MULTIPLE TIMES. 🥹📰

And somehow, we had absolutely NO idea until someone told us about it 😭

Turns out our senior Golden Retriever has been featured several times by DogTime, with some of her stories also appearing on Yahoo and AOL. And what makes this extra special? They featured Tequila simply being… Tequila. 🥹

Walking herself. Carrying her own leash. The little things she has become known and loved for.

One of my little dreams has always been to see Tequila in a magazine someday… or maybe even on TV as that senior Golden Retriever who walks herself. 🥹🙏 We’re not there yet, but this already feels like a little dream coming true.

We started this account to simply document her life here in Melbourne. Never did we imagine those ordinary little moments would travel this far. 🌎

What does @thedogloversfestival Melbourne look like through a dog’s eyes? 👀🐶

We let our 11-year-old self-walking Golden Retriever, Tequila, take you along for the adventure! 😂🧡

Shot from her POV using the Insta360 X5 @insta360.anz because who better to film a dog event than a dog herself?! 🤣

We never forced Tequila to visit any stores. 🤭 She chose where to go and navigated her own way, while Dad stayed close to guide her and make sure she was safe. 🐾❤️

WHO’S READY FOR THE DOG LOVERS FESTIVAL?!

Tequila is so excited to see all the dog lovers, make new friends and enjoy a weekend surrounded by our favourite four-legged friends! 🐶

But before the fun begins tomorrow, here’s a little reminder for our amazing dog-loving community! (esp if you are going)

🐾 Always ask the pet parent before petting or approaching a dog.
🐾 Let the dog come to you and respect their body language.
🐾 Please don’t hug, grab, or pick up a dog without permission.
🐾 If a dog needs space, let them have it. Even the friendliest dogs need breaks!

Let’s make this festival fun, safe, and stress-free for EVERYONE 🐕✨

P.S. My dad will be bringing me this time for the FIRST TIME ever! 😂 So please be gentle with him, okay? He’s new to this… unlike me, the experienced festival queen. 👑🤣

Sometimes, God sends you a blessing with four paws and a heartbeat.

For 11 years, Tequila has been by my side, and for 11 years, she has been changing my life in ways I never imagined. I thought I was simply getting a dog, but God knew I was getting so much more.

She taught me unconditional love, patience, compassion, and how to appreciate the little things in life. She has been there through different seasons of my life, quietly making the hard days a little easier and the good days even more beautiful. ❤️

Looking back, I realise that while I was busy taking care of her, she was also changing me into a better person.

Tequila, you will never, ever be just a dog. You are my first baby, my family, and one of the most beautiful blessings God has ever given me. And if I could go back 11 years, I would choose you all over again. Every single time. 🥹❤️

Maybe God knew exactly what my heart needed when He brought you into my life.

Harlow was showing off her dog tricks, and Tequila was like, “Cute… but I’m not doing all that for free!” 💅🏻

The funny thing? This 11-year-old Golden Retriever CAN do those tricks too! She just knows Mum doesn’t usually give her treats as a reward for every little performance. 🤣 So why bother, right, Tequila? HAHAHA!

Senior Golden Retriever logic: If there’s no treat involved, consider me retired. 🤣

Does your dog also know the tricks but suddenly forget everything when there’s no treat involved? 😆

Everyone talks about finding their yellow person… mine has been stealing my heart for 11 years.

Tequila is my senior Golden Retriever, but to me, she has never been “just a dog”. She’s my safe place, my comfort, my silent listener, and the one I can tell everything to without ever feeling judged.

I may be the one taking care of her, but somehow, she’s the one who makes my world feel a little softer. She might not understand every word I say, but she makes me feel understood in ways words never could.

There’s a special kind of love between a dog mum and her dog. It’s the kind that makes them family, your soul dog and sometimes, your very own yellow person. 💛

And PS. Yes, her dog dad is my yellow person, too. 😂 But Tequila? She’s a whole different shade of yellow. Don’t ask me to explain it. If you know, you KNOW. 🥹
