Update on Teddy.. This is not good news. Hi, many will know us Alison and Mark and our gorgeous labrador family. Sadly we have been given really bad news concerning Teddy, yesterday he was given a diagnosis of leukaemia and as you can imagine we are devastated.
We took Teddy to the vet on Friday the 10th because he had a bad neck and was crying out. He had a thorough examination and they took his bloods. Later we received a phone call informing us Teddy’s white blood count was raised.
Next stage we saw an orthopaedic vet Monday 13th to get his opinion on the neck pain and the next stages. After a meeting with him the vet said Teddy needed to go to a specialist hospital called The Willows, as they have all the medical facilities to do more in-depth examinations and best professional medical staff. Yesterday we went to the Willows where he was examined, they kept him overnight to repeat his bloods and get Teddy seen by a neurologist.
That evening we received a phone call from the hospital with news that has hit us hard and was so very unexpected. We were told Teddy had cancer, it is leukaemia and that his life expectancy would be approximately 2 to 3 years. There is sadly no cure, so it’s a case of medical care from here.
Today the evening of the 15th November we are picking up Teddy, he will have chemotherapy tablets till his end, regular bloods & checks with our local vets. Teddy will also be going back for an MRI on his neck.
We are in a situation that happened so fast and so unexpected that we have to ask our Instagram family for help which is so hard for us.
Our £7000 insurance money has all been used up, the specialist hospital is extremely expensive with consultants fees, tests, procedures and accommodation.
We also face the cost of chemotherapy medication.
We totally understand that times are really hard for everyone right now, we understand that money is hard for people so do not expect that all of you can help. Please only donate if you really can and it doesn’t matter how small the amount is.
Honestly from the bottom of our hearts we thank you, you are incredible people who have been with our Labrador family by our side’s Gofundme link is in our bio ❤️ by @ourlabradorfriends

Since Murphy has come home from his Operation, Mia and Teddy won’t leave his side. They can know he’s been to Doggy Hospital, and they are looking after him🥰🐾 #labrador #lab #lablove #dogs #dogsofinstagram by @ourlabradorfriends

We wanted to let you know what poor Murphy has been going through.
Last Thursday Murphy went to the vets for a medication review, they also did a health check. On examining Murphy they found a fist sized mass near his spleen, the vet said he needed an ultrasound to find out more information but it didn’t look good.
On Monday Murphy had his ultrasound and it was confirmed he had a mass and it was attached to his spleen. They wanted to remove the mass and spleen as soon as possible as it was at high risk of bursting, this would be a medical emergency.
The next morning, Tuesday, Murphy went down for surgery to have the spleen and mass removed. It was very lucky it was removed that day because the mass burst when they were removing it, and it bled out.
Murphy got through the operation and after spending the night at the vets, we are extremely happy to have him home.
The mass has been sent away to the laboratory where they will be testing it for cancer, so now we have to wait for the results 🐾❤️ by @ourlabradorfriends
