Gosh, it sure feels great to be back in Cali surrounded by such wonderful humans.☀️ Reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and spending time doing something that truly fills my heart!

I had the best time volunteering with @nourishl.a this past Sunday - even if it was 100+ degrees! 🥵 There’s something incredibly energizing about being surrounded by people who genuinely care about making a difference and are willing to roll up their sleeves to make it all sing.

Thank you, @nourishl.a, for the beautiful community you’ve created and the meaningful work you do every day. It feels so good to contribute to a cause that not only strengthens local food sovereignty, reduces food waste, nourishes our communities, but also shows Mother Earth love & kindness the entire way. 🌎🌱

Good people. Good food. Good purpose. And a whole lot of love. 💚 taken in Los Angeles, California by @ourlittlestand

Stopped by my clients Will & Sarah’s mid-century modern home in the Palisades yesterday to see how everything was growing in.

This landscape came with a few unique challenges from the start - a hillside property, a persistent gopher problem, and additional fire-conscious planting requirements following the devastating fires that swept through so much of the neighborhood.

It was incredibly rewarding to return to the west coast and see how beautifully the California natives have begun to establish themselves and settle into their landscape. There’s something special about revisiting a garden after giving it some time to grow into itself.

You see…a garden is never really finished. It keeps evolving, adapting and growing - and that’s truly the best part of what makes this type of work so interesting.

Here are just a few snapshots from yesterday’s garden check-in (when Will and I walked through the space to explore what & where to fill in before the winter rain arrives). taken in Pacific Palisades by @ourlittlestand

Words can’t express how appreciative we are to have had the time we did on Maui with our family. Everything about Maui was so nourishing - our souls, our hearts, our bellies, our skin, our lives feel enriched from this last week of getting to celebrate Travis’ mom’s 80th and dad’s 85th birthdays in such a magical oasis. What a treat! Thanks Gramma & Grampa 💖

Although we had to cut the trip short (because of the tropical cyclone 🌀 swirling around in the Pacific)…we still got to do so much and meet so many new friends in such a short amount of time.

It’s a good thing that we left when we did tho…
as a fire did break out last night so we would have definitely missed our flight back to the mainland today. Road closures have been reported as the local FD are attempting to contain the fire.

We are praying for the Maui community - and hope that they are able to contain the fire before strong winds kick up again.

Missing Maui sooooo much and praying all will be safe and okay! And hoping it won’t be too long ‘til we get to return again.

Lang has spent the past week in Vietnam with her family, celebrating her dad’s birthday and her cousin’s wedding. She’s been loving every moment - soaking in the local culture, savoring food grown and harvested from nearby farm homes, and eating her way through Sóc Trăng, the province where her parents were born and raised.

Here are a few snapshots from her time there. Pardon all the foodie photos - it’s pretty much all she’s been doing: eating, chatting, praying, and reconnecting with relatives, old family friends, and new ones too. It’s been such a joy-filled trip, and she can’t wait to get back to her own kitchen to try out all the traditional Viet recipes she’s learned (minus the MSG, of course)!

If only she can figure out a way to bring some seeds back 🤔 taken in Soc Trang by @ourlittlestand

September highlights (pt. 2) - plant foraging with @you.who.earth.to.travis, more heavy spurts of rain, lots of homesteading/home cooked meals and slowing down, visits to Florida nurseries (one that was a nursery/garden center and restaurant), our God daughter Aurora’s 1st birthday party, and beachy sunset! taken in Miami, Florida by @ourlittlestand

Hi everyone! I’m excited to invite you to Nourish LA’s Bounty for Good Harvest Fundraiser on November 8th. This is more than just a dinner; it’s a chance to gather as a community, support a cause, and help feed our neighbors.

Nourish LA relies on more than just volunteers—our work involves essential logistics and dedicated staff who keep our mission moving forward every week, and we need consistent support to make it all happen.

Join us for an evening filled with locally grown food, tasty drinks, and wonderful company. Our guest chef, Kimberly Knight, will be there to make it an unforgettable night. Let’s break bread, connect, and explore how we can bridge the gap between food waste and local need together. We’d love to see you there—every ticket helps make a real difference. Let’s come together and support a worthy cause! taken in Los Angeles, California by @ourlittlestand

Nourish LA began as a heartfelt response to the pandemic, founded by Natalie Flores, who was determined to ensure that no one in the LA community went hungry. As she started collecting food donations from grocery store chains, she was shocked by how much perfectly good food was going to waste. This realization expanded her mission—not only was she fighting hunger, but also reducing food waste in the process.

Now, four years later, thanks to the dedication of good humans / hundreds (and even thousands) of volunteers, Nourish LA continues to provide free, nutritious food to thousands of families across LA every weekend. But this vital work can’t continue without support. Every donation helps keep Nourish LA’s passion alive - making a real difference in the fight against both food insecurity and food waste.

And the mission doesn’t stop there. In partnership with Good Karma Gardens, Nourish LA and its dedicated members are also transforming grassy plots into sustainable community gardens, providing fresh, locally grown food to the neighborhoods that need it most.

Together, we can help make an even bigger impact! Every donation and/or act of volunteerism/kindness helps feed more families, reduce waste, and build a greener, more sustainable future.

Please follow @nourishl.a and @goodkarmagardens to learn about ways you can get involved in making a difference. And if you’re able, please donate via the @nourishl.a link in our bio, come volunteer at one of the events, or simply spread the word about the organizations’ missions to your community. Your voice matters! taken in Los Angeles, California by @ourlittlestand
