Community isn’t built on shared interests. It’s built on someone going first. Who’s been waiting for permission to say the true thing out loud? Next gathering: link in bio. #intentionalcommunity #belonging #oursundaysanctuary #sundaysanctuary #personaldevelopment by @oursundaysanctuary

Reading is one of my favorite things to do! I came across an article that really struck me. Curious what you think! #belonging #sundaysanctuary #oursundaysanctuary #intentionalcommunity by @oursundaysanctuary

Saved scraps for two weeks just to see what would happen. Glad I did. The throwaway parts had the most flavor. I’m not talking about apples anymore 😉

Sunday Sanctuary exists for exactly this kind of noticing. Link in bio.

What kind of lonely are you?

Loneliness isn’t one thing. Researchers who interviewed people in eight countries found that two people can both say “I’m lonely” and be missing completely different things. So which one is yours?

Surrounded lonely. People everywhere, but nobody really knows you.

Nobody-calls lonely. No one to text on a random Tuesday. No one to call for good news or bad.

Over-functioning lonely. Everyone leans on you. They call you strong, and no one asks how you are. And you don’t really have a choice.

Lost-myself lonely. You’re lonely for you, the person under the to-do list.

Hurt lonely. Trust got broken, and it’s hard to let anyone close again. This one deserves a good counselor AND a supportive community.

If you saw yourself in any of these, Sunday Sanctuary was made for you. One hour, a salt cave, real conversation, and the chance to be known without performing.

Next gathering: Sunday, November 8th, 9:30 AM, Salted Soul Acton. Link in bio.

Inspired by Hans IJzerman’s research on loneliness (Psychology Today, Nov 2026).

As a professor I hear a lot of people look down on how young people use social media.

I see it differently.

Yes, the scroll can hurt. The loop and the crash of doomscrolling, or watching what looks like someone else’s perfect life and feeling like you don’t measure up, happens to people of every age.

And yet, for a lot of people, the scroll is also where it starts. The first time you see you’re not the only one. That others are carrying what you’re carrying. That kindred spirits exist.

Sometimes the feed is how you find the room. Then something happens offline: friendship, community, identity, values, and real help with what you’ve been working through.

That’s what we do at Sunday Sanctuary. You leave refreshed, knowing you aren’t alone, knowing yourself a little better, and with frameworks to understand the world a little better.

Tough week. Tough month. Tough era? We get it.

Our next gathering is Sunday, November 8, 9:30 AM at Salted Soul Acton. Link in bio.

Research: Li & Yin (2026), “Doomscrolling, mental health, and psychological well-being in adolescents and adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis,” Frontiers in Psychology. It shows an association, not proof of cause.

Today I walked in and the house smelled like flowers.

It stopped me. Ten years ago I realized the plug-in air fresheners, sprays, and chemical cleaners were giving me migraines. My body said so. My doctors said so. And in my marriage, it still wasn’t my call. The fights were never really about cleaning supplies. They were about care, and whether what I knew about my own body mattered.

So I decided what I wanted my home to feel like. Laughter and mutual respect. I didn’t get there by reacting. I got there by choosing.

What did you decide to build that you’re now living in? Tell me in the comments.
