Happy Father’s Day to our whole world. The greatest man I’ve ever known. You are everything good, patient, gentle, kind, beautiful, and pure in this world. Choosing you to be their papi is the best decision I’ve made in my entire life. Your love, guidance, and kindness is so big that it doesn’t stop with only our kids—it pours over into their friends and every kid that comes around. You have the most beautiful soul Martin and so many lives are better because of it.

Sometimes when you try and keep a tradition alive things backfire. 😝

We were all set to surprise the birthday girl… but somehow the dog was the first one out the door. Which led to Martin not knowing if to drop the balloons or not — Cele seeing the shock on all our faces and the dog topping it off by sprinting straight to the couch and knocking the camera over. CHAOSSSSS. 😩🐶 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELE!!! 😆😆😆 Good thing you’re the third child and are very much used to this level of crazy.

Needless to say, things did NOT go according to plan 😆

But the mess and the imperfectness of it all are still all part of the story.

Somewhere along the way, I realized that as our kids get older, love starts looking different.

It looks like leaning into their interests.
Letting them teach you something.
Being willing to be the student sometimes.

Today he patiently taught me how to shoot a basketball… again 😂🙈 Crazy, how much better my technique got by the end of the session — now I’m home with my back hurting LOL but gosh these moments right here matter so much more than we could ever realize.

The older they get, the more I see how important it is to create opportunities for connection inside the things they already love. 🫶🏼 by @ourtogether_
