Hello, my name is Kylee

You all know my dogs, but don’t worry they will also get an intro soon.

I was born and raised in Oregon (the western part, like all over), and I moved to Colorado in 2018 for a fresh start. I went to College for Fisheries and Wildlife hoping to save the animals, but I now work in Fraud Prevention for an e-commerce business here in Colorado.

I have a whole list of hobbies that I try to do all at the same time, but the more prominent ones are reading (mostly fantasy), hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and sometimes crocheting. I also want to get into embroidery more, but I am also unwilling to put down any of my current hobbies to learn more 😅

I love weightlifting, and it’s my main form of exercise. This year I’m focusing more on myself and my own goals of losing some weight and being more active on a day to day basis. I have a side hobby of dancing Cuban Salsa, which I adore. I also started dating again this year (scary).

I want to be more confident in myself, and present for myself. I want to work up to doing the things I’ve always wanted to do, with or without the dogs. I love my dogs more than anything, but I can’t exactly travel internationally with them 🥲

I’ve dabbled in a little nature boudoir, and I’d love to do more in the future 😉

It’s time to officially meet Choji

Choji is my big malamute boy. Even though he’s only 12% malamute, I usually say he’s malamute when people ask because of his size. He’s actually mostly husky at 67%, but people always think that huskies are supposed to be large dogs and they’re not. So, I say he’s a malamute. 😉

Choji is my heart and my soul. He’s my guy. This dog has carried me through my 20s, my ups and downs, my move halfway across the country. Choji has watched me grow as an adult and become myself, my real self.

He is overall such a neutral dog, BUT he does have his reactive moments. In the second half of his life, he decided that he was going to be less tolerant of other dogs, eventually resulting in a bite on another dog. A friend’s dog. I hate hate bringing this up because I don’t want anyone to look at him with fear. He’s the sweetest soul.

Despite his rare moodiness, he’s the strangest dog. Even though he’s a “sled dog,” he actually doesn’t enjoy running all that much and he definitely does not enjoy harnesses. We tried, and we’ve had some fun adventures with sledding, but he gets to take things at his own pace these days. He rarely shows emotion, then when he does, when he shows joy it’s the most special moment. It’s why I will always be excited to see him when I come home from work, because he’s always excited to see me. When he bounces around with joy, it’s the most amazing thing. To be loved like this.

It’s time to introduce my girl, my princess

Nymeria was the husky I never wanted 😂 She was a wild beast puppy. She screamed, she peed, she bit everything and terrorized Choji. This puppy fell into my lap at the perfect time, though. I was initially looking for a shepherd rescue puppy and somehow this little demon appeared.

Funny enough, though, she never damaged anything like what you see in horror husky puppy stories (minus a power cord here and there). Choji is the only one, in his adult years I might add, that has damaged anything so dramatically (tearing up carpets, obliterating blinds, etc)

I legit almost gave up about a month in. I was so overwhelmed with this puppy of mine that I didn’t think I could handle it. I ended up sending her to a puppy board and train to at least help with crate training, and it was the best decision I could’ve made.

Despite our very eventful beginnings, she’s become my best girl. Nymeria is very treat motivated, and surprisingly pretty smart. She’s just sassy and head strong. However, I love these characteristics about her. Love that she still gets crazy zoomies randomly, but can be taught tricks after like 5 tries.

She’s loves the water and swimming, running, playing with other dogs, and doing literally whatever I do. She’s my cuddler at night. She may not be my soul dog, but she holds a very special place in my heart and I love her so much.

The best buds

I’m not sure what my life would look like without these two hooligans 🥹

Went out this morning to take some photos, but I pulled a rookie move and didn’t make sure my battery was charged 😅 I got SOME before it died, but I wish I had had just a tad more time. Oh well, I still got the dogs out for a short walk through the moody weather.

Happy Release Day for @ferapets

Happy Weight & Muscles is just what the doctor ordered. Literally 😉 As you all know, Choji was diagnosed Chronic Kidney Disease, which means his diet consists of low phosphorus which also means low protein. So, keeping him strong and lean is one of my biggest struggles have a giant breed. It’s extra important because he is so large, he needs to have those healthy, strong muscles to support those legs and hips.

Malamute Monday begins with a woo

There’s nothing more peaceful than a solo road trip with the dogs. Camping alone, hiking alone, making meals alone. It’s so freeing. Maybe in the Spring I’ll do another road trip somewhere.

Spooky Ghouls Read

Number one thing I’ve enjoyed living alone again… not having to wear pants 😂 Like why are they the most annoying piece of clothing?

Im about halfway through Tourist Season by @brynne_weaver and I am eating it up. Probably going to be the quickest read this month, I don’t even know how. It just be like that sometime. You start one of those books that seem to just fly by because they’re so good. A small seaside town, a serial killer with a gardening hobby, and a man looking for revenge. Need I say more?

It’s FRIDAY! Yay! 😁

Witchy books for a witchy girly 💚

I discovered Rachel Griffin a few years ago when Wild Is the Witch was recommended to me. Then I went and snagged The Nature of Witches. Her books have this earthy, nature-connected kind of magic that I absolutely love. 🌿 So, when I got the opportunity to receive the ARC from @netgalley for her new book, When the Woods Called Us Home, I couldn’t pass it up 😍

I was hooked from the beginning, trying to piece together what happened and how the secrets of the past connected to what was occurring in the present. By the end, I was genuinely getting spooked (in the best way) 😂 An incredible read filled with a mysterious family curse, a missing man, and generations of secrets buried in the woods.

When the Woods Called Us Home releases February 23, so put this one on your 2027 TBR

The Sweet Mountain Man

I’ve made a tough and controversial decision when it comes to this man’s nutrition, but with the constant digestive issues I had to. It breaks me watching him continuously having an upset stomach. There’s a total of 3 whole prescription diets for Kidney Disease, and every single one of them has grains which Choji historically cannot tolerate. I’ve tried for over a year now to get this to work, with different probiotics, fiber supplements, etc. I’m just hoping my Vet can help figure this out with me so I’m not making anything worse for him.

October really is the best month though 🥰 I just wish the weather would cool the heck down 😅 Next week we’re in the 60s and I cannot wait! The trees are turning down in the cities now and it’s a vibe 😍

A hidden lake all to ourselves

I can’t stop thinking about the day we spent in Crested Butte. The trees were stunning and the weather was perfect. We hiked to our favorite little hidden lake and saw only one person the whole time. The dogs got to run around and swim to their hearts desire.

✨Is there a special place you like to visit that you don’t want anyone else to discover?✨ I have a couple of them, and only trust a couple people with the location for fear of it becoming overpopulated.
