At first I thought the ground was moving… 😳🦀

Turns out it was a whole colony of fiddler crabs! The males have one oversized claw they use to grab attention, while the females have two even-sized claws. Watching them scurry around the mudflats is one of my boys’ favorite things to do on our Florida trail adventures.

And if your kids decide to catch one, just remember—they can pinch! 😂

Trail Snack Tuesday went international this week 🌴😂

You either love them or hate them… but my boys LOVE them. 😂🫒

I’m glad to have an easy hiking snack for kids made without seed oils that I can throw in my bag and not think twice about.

One more easy thing to pack = mom win.

What’s one battle you’ve officially stopped fighting? 😂

As a mom of 4 boys, I’ve learned some things just aren’t worth the fight.

Oscar Scherer State Park — Green Trail 🥾🦅

• 3-mile loop
• Sandy in quite a few spots — I’ve pushed a stroller through it, but it is WORK 😂
• Keep an eye out for the bald eagle nest along the trail 🦅
• Bring water, sunscreen, bug spray + good shoes
• No restrooms along the trail but great facilities at the nature center
• Nature Center is a MUST visit with kids you could spend an hour in there alone
• Jr Ranger Program is excellent!

You may also spot Florida scrub-jays, gopher tortoises, indigo snakes and red-shouldered hawks along the way. 🌿

The adults walking by were busy getting their steps in while listening to podcasts, only pausing to tell my other 3 boys to “be careful.”

They missed the tiny wonder right in front of them, but my 2-year-old didn’t. 🥹

Kids are some of our greatest teachers—if we slow down long enough to learn alongside them.

Fun fact: this is an ocean isopod, basically a marine cousin of the roly-poly you find on land. 🌊

Rainy days with screen free parenting don’t have to mean adult led activity after activity. 🌧️

My boys picked these things out entirely by themselves while I read and drank my coffee. ☕️📖

Gators are predictable. People? Not so much. 👀

I hike Florida trails almost daily with my four boys, and the wildlife isn’t what makes me nervous the people are.
