Friday 9/25 outtaSPEC! returns to @brickboxbrewery – a night of underground, leftfield, and boundary-pushing electronic music to initiate connection, movement, and discovery.

We’re creating a home for the outsiders, the dancers, the selectors, the hardware heads, and anyone looking for something a little different. Bringing an oldschool perspective that breaks down hierarchies and centers the music for a new generation.

BUBBLEGIRL is a Phoenix based Hardcore DJ. Her focus is primarily oldschool hardcore trax to make you BOUNCE! Blending makina, happy hardcore, hard trance and breakbeat elements that will have you lifting off of the dance floor.

MASSI is a multi genre selector constantly pushing the boundaries of dance floor curation. With her Mexican heritage influencing each and every set, she blends Latin house, Afrohouse, deep minimal techno, speed garage, jersey club,hyperpop, experimental bass and more. She is the founder of YesGoodPony, a Tucson nightlife collective focused on creating spaces for genre defying electronic music to thrive.

NULLSLEEP employs obsolete hardware and a DIY ethos to produce lo-tek hi-nrg music – mutating and intersecting jungle, footwork, acid, chiptune, and gabber. He is the founder of 8bitpeoples, a netlabel focused on music made with early computers and videogame consoles in a deliberate rejection of planned obsolescence.

THOMAS B, a shape-shifting DJ and producer based in Tucson, Arizona, creates sets that blend an eclectic mix of upper-tempo beats and bass. While he primarily plays his own music, he also incorporates some of his favorite tracks from other producers, both modern and classic. taken in Brick Box Brewery by @outta.spec

DEADSKI is a Tucson-born Mexican musician and producer blending electronic music, breaks, bass, hip hop, Latin rhythms, and sounds pulled from memories. Somewhere between a jungle record and taking acid at the swap meet.

FORMERLY KNOWN AS is a non-binary DJ and producer with over 13 years of experience spanning the underground scenes of Southern California and the emerging electronic community of Arizona. Rooted in house music and inspired by Chicago’s legacy, they craft immersive, genre-blending sets that combine technical precision, dynamic storytelling, and a passion for creating unforgettable experiences on the dance floor.

SOAPLAB is a Tucson native DJ / producer who specializes in bass forward EDM frequencies. In the last few years he’s had some break out moments, like playing Dusk, Gem & Jam, and June Jam music fest. Soaplab is a prominent figure in the Tucson rave scene, through throwing his own underground EDM events and collaborating with many great crews in town. His original songs range from downtempo bass and dubstep to ukg. Above all else, his kindness and care for the community is what makes his music project truly special!

MESS.A.LINA is an industrial musician from Tucson, integrating violin, vocals, and synthesizers to create cacophonous drone and sounds mixed with complex rhythms. Taking influence from metal acts like The Body and Author & Punisher, as well as electronic artists like Two Fingers and Portishead, the atmosphere created becomes gloomy, harsh, and rhythmic. by @outta.spec

outtaSPEC! kicked off this past Saturday with the first of our monthly nights focused on sounds from the Tucson underground and beyond. We were hyped by the response.

@atlantis_moreupset fresh off a performance at @club_sulk the night before, opened with a DJ set that encapsulated everything we love about them. They always put the music above the ego and their selections maintain a balance between classic tunes and deep cuts that have the trainspotters scrambling for those track ids.

@nullsleep followed with a footwork and breakbeat focused live hardware set, dipping into other genres along the way. His setup of two modified NES consoles sequenced by an M8 tracker was a reflection of his beginnings and the pivotal role he played in the NYC chiptune scene going back more than 25 years.

Then @mikeypoblano (phx) was back on the decks, easily owning the peak of the night with a set of rhythms and grooves that kept the crowd moving. A handful of his own productions, some yet to be released, were scattered throughout and seamlessly blended in. If you’re in phx, catch him at House Party on first Saturdays at @central.records.

@deadski.os closed out with a rough and tough acid-infused jungle set that flexed both his sound design skills and production prowess. Constantly busy operating a compact modular synth rig, he laid down a selection of tracks from his recently released “Skyline” EP, along with fresh productions that push his sound even further.

Seriously BIG UP to everyone who came out and let the music move them. We had so many great conversations throughout the night that confirmed theres an appetite for this here, and we’re going to continue working hard to bring these sounds to you. There was already a tangible sense of community and friendship among those in attendance, and many of our chats ended in making plans for how people could get more involved with the events going forward. Tucson deserves this, so lets build it together.
