We'd like to thank our incredible funders and supporters for making Outwith 2026 possible 🙌

Their generosity and belief in the festival continues to enable us to bring high-quality, and affordable cultural events to the city ✨️

Just as importantly, it has also provided a great local platform for many up-and-coming creatives - such as young artists getting the opportunity to see their work exhibitited, perhaps for the first time. Or filmmakers seeing their shorts played on the big screen. Or allowing local bands and community choirs to perform live on stage 🎭

Thank you to the following for their support in making all of this a reality 🙏

This Sunday, we are thrilled to be joined by filmmaker Laura Carreira for a screening of her award-winning debut feature, On Falling.

It tells the story of Aurora, a Portuguese migrant working as a warehouse picker in Edinburgh. Trapped between the confines of a vast distribution centre and the solitude of her own bedroom, Aurora seeks out every opportunity to resist the alienation and isolation that threaten her sense of self.

“Crafted with painstaking care, and features two strong lead performances that are thoughtfully translated to the screen by an empathetic lens” – Screen International

Winner: Best Director, San Sebastián International Film Festival 2024

Winner: Sutherland Award, BFI London Film Festival 2024

Supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, awarding funds from Screen Scotland and National Lottery funding from the BFI.

it’s been a fantastic first day at Outwith Festival 2026!

this year’s festival kicked off with Outwith Contemporaries opening their 2026 exhibition in Pittencreiff House, platforming underrepresented and up-and-coming artists based in Scotland! this year’s exhibition has 6 artists from Dunfermline, and our featured artist hails from Trondheim, Norway!🇳🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We also had another busy exhibition opening with @fifeprintmakers at @abbot.house showing a variety of printmaking techniques and a great deal of skill! 💙

@annotspace and @ferncafe.dunfermline hosted our first workshop of the festival, with a intuitive art evening that was both relaxing and refreshing for attendees! 🎨

to round the evening off, we all headed up to @carnegiehall for the one and only Neil Lennon @officialdafc big interview! It was fantastic to hear Neil discuss his growing up, mental health, and cultural loves! ⚽️💕

There's still time to grab those last-minute tickets at the link in our bio!🎟

What an absolutely unforgettable opening night at the @outwithfestival

Carnegie Hall was buzzing last night as we kicked off the 2026 festival with The Outwith Interview. Football legend and Dunfermline Athletic FC Neil Lennon
took to the main stage in conversation with the brilliant broadcaster @gordonsmart

It was an evening packed with incredible stories, brilliant laughs, and total candor. Neil opened up like never before about his extraordinary life in sport—from his early playing days to managing at the highest level and his current journey leading the Pars. It was an absolute pleasure to meet them both; they were incredibly generous with their time and insights.

An event of this scale doesn’t happen without an incredible team behind the scenes. A massive shoutout and thank you to our fantastic volunteers whose hard work, energy, and warm welcomes made the entire night run so smoothly. You are the heartbeat of this festival!

We also want to thank Gordon for guiding such an engaging chat, Neil for his incredible honesty, and everyone who came out to support.

The festival is officially underway, and the energy in Dunfermline is incredible! Check out what else we have lined up this week and secure your spots via www.outwithfestival.co.uk.🙌
