For the first time ever: welcome inside the new Blue Bungalow. 📐✨

A building is just brick and mortar until young people step inside and fill it with their stories. Since 1998, the original Little Blue Bungalow had been that place. Today, we’re showing you the blueprints for our next chapter.

Growing from 1,700 to 4,500 square feet means more than just extra room; it means room to thrive!

🩺 7 dedicated therapy offices (including play, group, and family spaces).
🎨 A high-tech Media Arts Lab equipped for music editing, 3D printing, and t-shirt making, giving youth the technical tools to bring their creative visions to life.
📚 The Jerry Strickland Jr. & Steve Kubenka Memorial Library, giving a permanent home to 1,800+ LGBTQIA+ titles so youth can read the stories that came before them and write their own.

(And yes... we know 4,500 sqft isn't strictly a "bungalow" anymore 😉. We’re keeping the name to honor every memory, laugh, and breakthrough that happened in our original home.)

We’ve raised over $2.2M, but we need our Central Texas community to help us raise the final $1.3M to unlock these doors.

Dirt flew, tears were shed, and a new chapter began. 🚜💙

On Tuesday, October 6th, our youth, donors, staff, board, and community members broke ground at the historic site where generations of Central Texas LGBTQIA+ youth have found safety, community, and belonging.

Rebuilding our Flagship Center isn’t just about putting bricks together. It’s a promise to every young person who hasn't walked through our doors yet: when you're ready, there will be a safe, joyful place to land.

We’re $1.3M away from finishing this 4,500 sq. ft. home and expanding our mental health care and youth programming.

OutYouth gives youth a place to find community, gain confidence, and become their authentic selves.

Ms. Alejandra (she/her/Queen/Icon) is often one of the first people to greet and say hi to a new youth when they drop in for the first time, welcoming them into a community of warmth and realness.

The youth we serve are the lifeblood of OutYouth. They're the reason we do what we do and what keeps the passion of our staff, volunteers, and interns so high!

OutYouth ❤️s Texas

Since 1990, OutYouth has called the heart of Texas home. In 36 years, we've had well over 45,000 people walk through our doors for youth programs, clinical services, tours, events, and celebrations.

We'll admit that, as an organization like OutYouth in Texas, we've sometimes felt pain and heartbreak, but we've never forgotten our commitment to the people of Texas because the people of Texas have never forgotten their commitment to OutYouth.

From youth and their families, community partners, volunteers, and donors, OutYouth has always felt the full support of those around us.

When in need, the people of Austin, of Texas, have showed up for us and we'll always be here for you.

🌈💝 🦄

OutYouth has had many homes. In our early days, we gathered in people's living rooms, volunteers who offered up their own havens to help OutYouth create one for a community in need.

Soon after that, we moved into our first home on Guadalupe Street. After a few years, in December 1998, OutYouth moved to an old 1,900-square-foot house that was already almost a century old.

This house became known as The Little Blue Bungalow, the center of OutYouth's community building and the heart of the organization.

Unfortunately, in 2024, a massive leak caused us to close The Little Blue Bungalow permanently. A heartbreaking moment in OutYouth's history, but a reminder that OutYouth is more than a physical place; we're a community of people who can, and will, gather wherever we can.

Three short weeks later, the South Center was opened, and quickly nicknamed The Little Blue Warehouse by the youth.

The closing of The Little Blue Bungalow was sad. However, OutYouth was already in the process of planning to build a new center, right where it stood, it just happened sooner than we expected.

So, what's next for that little plot of land?

Stay tuned. Exciting things are coming!

You don't need a grand plan to reset your brain, just a rainy afternoon and permission to drop your guard.

Dalton (he/him), our Groups Services Manager, is taking a well-deserved mental health minute to dance in the rain today. 🌧️

At OutYouth, we remind our youth every day that joy isn't something you have to earn; it’s something you deserve to experience right now.

Today, we celebrate International Dolly Parton Day!

Dolly never judged and was a strong ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Dolly always stayed true to her words, "I Will Always Love You," and we promise to always return the feeling.

There's nothing like experiencing OutYouth through the eyes of the youth that we serve.

It shows us that our mission is working, that we're providing a space for youth to be themselves, gain confidence, and develop into their authentic selves, all while knowing that OutYouth has their backs and that we'll always be here for them.

Save the Date for our 16th annual Glitz on Saturday, November 7th!

It's time for a mid-week dance break!!

Turn on your favorite song, get in your comfy cloths, crank up the volume and dance like no one is watching!

Close your eyes, sink into the music, and just move your body!

What song are you putting on? 🕺🎶
