Terry was a good friend of mine, like an older brother I never had, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, he had awesome sense of humor, very intelligent; I miss him dearly, more than words can say.

Danielle, My one and only child. My sweet, loving, giving and beautiful daughter. You left me way to soon. It's not supposed to be this way. You absence has made this world cold and lonely. You had such a light about you. You lit up every room you entered. Always there to help anyone that needed it. I know that God wanted you because you were already an angel on earth. I wish we all could have seen the woman you were becoming. Your girls could have seen how great you could be. I know they would have been proud. I know I am. I miss you more than words can express.

I know the day I got the phone call to come home to Georgia that you were on life support, my world stopped and it hasn't moved since that second. I hope and pray that you know how much you mean to me, your daddy and all of us who love you. I carry you with me always, not a second goes by that your not in my heart and on my mind.

I feel if I had stayed in Georgia our reality would be different. That you would still be here with me and your 2 girls. I wish I could change things. I love you my baby girl always and forever to the moon and back. I wait for the day to see your smiling face again and hold you in my arms and never let you go again.

Audy. I wish love could have saved you. I wish something could have mended what was broken in you to use and abuse drugs.. I wish I could have healed what was broken.. I will mourn you longer now than when I was your sister.. and if grieving you is just love persevering.. I will honor your memory by grieving you for the rest of my life. I will cherish memories of us together. My life got dimmer the moment you left.. but the light that remains is from the love you left behind. I’ll always be your little sister. And you will always be my best friend. 💜

Dad, I have told myself for the last two years that I would make it out to the national overdose walk.. I am finally doing it this year. I miss you every single day and there are so many things I wish you could be here for. Not a single day goes by where I don't miss you. I know you're with me every step of the way. I love you, until we meet again.

Forever in our hearts you’ll stay, we love you and remember you every single day…they say time heals everything, but time or reason will never heal or change the way I feel. I cherish all the good memories, You were so loving, hard working, a good listener, a wonderful person. But in my heart you are always be, the memories will always be with me. I miss you more than anybody knows… You mean the world to us, but all the love you left behind, forever will live in your sons. I cried when you passed and still cry today, I’m sad I couldn’t make you stay…but as long as I am living I’ll carry you with me safely tucked away in my heart. No matter what the future brings I know that you will walk beside all of us, especially your sons. I will always talk about you to them, so they always remember you and the love you had for them, they are the best part of you. Forever in our hearts, until we meet again my love….

To all Families in South Africa and Globally who lost their loved ones -
31 August | Remember, Prevent, Act.
Today, Sanca National Office remember the lives lost to overdose and substance use disorders, and we stand with the families, friends and communities who continue to carry the pain of that loss.
Behind every statistic is a person, someone who was loved, someone who mattered, someone whose life had meaning and potential. We remember those who did not get the opportunity to recover, and we acknowledge the grief of those left behind.
We, as Sanca National Office also recognise the millions of people who are still affected by substance use disorders. For those struggling today, recovery is possible, and you are not alone. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it is an act of courage.
To every family who has lost someone: we see your grief, we honour your loved one, and we stand with you.
To everyone still struggling: your story is not over. There is hope, help and a path to recovery.
Let us use this day not only to remember, but to raise awareness, challenge stigma, promote prevention, expand access to treatment and support those affected by substance use disorders.
Remember those we have lost.
Support those who are still struggling.
Prevent future loss.
Keep hope alive.
Let's #EndOverdose

Dallas James Anderson -

**In Memory of Dallas Anderson**

Dallas Anderson was so much more than someone we lost to addiction. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a partner, a best friend, and a person whose presence could light up a room.

Dallas and I were partners and best friends for more than five years. We spent nearly every day together, building a life filled with memories that I will carry with me forever.

Dallas grew up in Lincoln City, Oregon, with his mom and sister. Growing up on the coast, he loved skateboarding and was a **HUGE Oregon Ducks fan**. Some of his favorite memories were going to games and cheering on the Ducks with his family.

He loved fast cars and had an appreciation for all kinds of music. He was charismatic, carefree, incredibly funny, and had a quick wit that could make just about anyone laugh.

But one of the most beautiful things about Dallas was his heart.

Dallas loved deeply. He absolutely adored his nephew, and spending time with him was one of Dallas's greatest joys. He also had an incredible love for animals, especially his beloved husky, Chianti, and his pug, Turkey Bird.

Dallas was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. His generosity knew no bounds. If someone needed help, Dallas would have gladly given them the shirt off his back.

That is the Dallas I want people to remember.

Not simply the circumstances surrounding his death.

Not simply addiction.

**Dallas.**

The funny, charismatic Oregon boy who loved his family, his animals, fast cars, music, skateboarding, the Ducks, and making people laugh.

The world has never felt quite the same without his bright light in it. He is deeply loved and deeply missed by so many.

I carry Dallas with me every day. His memory has become part of the work I do in recovery and substance abuse, helping other people find their light and reminding them that their lives are worth fighting for.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, I share Dallas's story because behind every overdose statistic is a human being.

Someone's son. Someone's brother. Someone's best friend. Someone's entire world.
Dallas was mine.
And he will never be forgotten.
