The Colt 1851 Navy Revolver is one of the most iconic handguns of the 19th century and a key step in the evolution of the modern revolver.

Designed by Samuel Colt and introduced by Colt’s Manufacturing Company in 1851, the .36-caliber cap-and-ball revolver gave shooters six rapid shots at a time when many pistols were still single-shot. Its balance, accuracy, and reliability quickly made it popular with soldiers, frontiersmen, and civilians.

During the American Civil War, it became one of the most widely carried sidearms by officers and cavalry on both sides. The revolver also saw extensive use across the American Old West, famously carried by figures like Wild Bill Hickok, who was known for wearing a pair of ivory-gripped Navy revolvers.

With more than 200,000 produced, the 1851 Navy helped cement the revolver as America’s dominant handgun and paved the way for later cartridge guns like the Colt Single Action Army.

25 years ago in October of 2001 Training Day hit theaters and cemented Alonzo Harris as one of cinema’s most memorable crooked cops.

His sidearm? The @smithandwessoninc 4506-1, a stainless-steel, third-generation .45 ACP. Iconic pairing especially considering he carried two!

The Winchester Model 1894 in .30-30 is one of America’s most iconic rifles. Lightweight, fast handling, and carried through generations of hunters, ranchers, and outdoorsmen since the late 1800s.

It’s #45friday are we’re bringing some two-tone heat all the way from Germany 1997 with the Sig Sauer P220 in .45ACP. Electroless nickel slide over a black alloy frame just pops and really sets this apart from other P series pistols. Sig’s stuff back then was such top quality and this one measures right up there with the best of them. This one also found with me with @xssights and having never used those before, I have to stay I’m a fan-rapid target acquisition is impressive.

I’ve been chasing after a German or West German P220 for quite some time and thanks to a good buddy, that has been crossed off the list and will be in heavy rotation! Happy Collecting and Enjoy-go shoot! PS-threw some Scorpions on there for you Germans! #sigsauer #45acp #p220 #germany by @overwatchinsights

📼 The ‘80s called… they said your 9mm needed a big brother!

In 1987, @coltfirearms brought 10mm Auto into its iconic 1911 platform with the Delta Elite. Nearly four decades later, this stainless-steel classic still has a place in firearms history.

We’re rewinding the tape for a look at the pistol, the cartridge, and the legacy behind one of Colt’s most recognizable 10mm handguns.
