My 2001 J Series 5 string, originally translucent black and recently refinished in Aged White by David Wilson. On stage in Germany with ex Genesis and
Stiltskin vocalist Ray Wilson. David also fitted a John East J-Tone preamp, and Nordstrand Big J Blade pickups. I used this bass on Ray’s first tours as a solo artist, so it’s been a meaningful reunion with the instrument! by @overwaterbasses

On the bench today - a Hollowbody Custom six string fretless - 34.5” scale, with a figured English Walnut top and matching covers and knobs and powered by a pair of Overwater SB6 magnetic pick-ups connected through our 3 band active preamp + a custom Headway piezo fitted under the wooden bridge and routed through a separate buffer preamp with separate volume and treble roll-off tone control.

As this bass is going to be used primarily for recording, the magnetic and piezo pickups are also routed through separate low-impedance output jacks, with both preamps featuring internal preset level controls to balance their individual pickup outputs. by @overwaterbasses
