Pixel Art

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (12/12)

The final figure in this series is based on the modern, digital style of pixel art! This is one of the styles I struggle with the most personally, so I really wanted to find a way to make a pixelated Lego figure work! My figure takes heavy inspiration from video game graphics, as well as the work of the amazingly talented @zleepy_art

Regionalism

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (9/12)

The ninth figure in this series is based on the American Regionalism style, made famous by painters like Edward Hopper and Norman Rockwell. It depicts rural traditional American life, which I tried to get across through this figure!

The eighth figure in this series is based on the minimalist style, taking heavy inspiration from the works of Mondrian. It uses the Minecraft head and comes printed all over with red, blue, yellow, black and white squares!

Constructivism

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (7/12)

The seventh figure in this series comes from Constructivism, the early 20th century Russian style of architecture and abstract art. She features bold, austere colours, geometric shapes, and propaganda-like imagery. Please don't be mean about my russian translation, it's courtesy of Google translate yet again 😭

Art Nouveau

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (6/12)

The sixth figure comes from the style Art Nouveau, originating in the late 19th century in Britain before being accepted in Belgium and France. Art Nouveau typically features a lot of natural imagery, which is why this figure comes laden with flowers! While I was planning this series I visited the Muses D'orsay in Paris, somewhere with an entire floor dedicated to Art Nouveau. It was there that I discovered a large part of Art Nouveau is furniture design: basically the whole exhibition was chairs! Be grateful I made this figure a person and not a sofa 😭

Origami

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (5/12)

The fifth figure in my art series is based on the Japanese art of paper folding, origami!! I tried to make this figure look like it could have been folded out of paper, so it has lots of layers of white paper, and geometric angles all over. I also gave it a representation of the classic origami crane, or Orizuru!

Anatomical Sketch

Lego Minifigures: Art Series 2 (3/12)

The third figure is a renaissance era anatomical sketch of a man, taking heavy heavy inspiration from Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. The figure shows different parts of Lego Minifigure anatomy, from the classic Lego skull to its muscles and toes!
