Feeling so incredibly honored and humbled to have landed my first cover shot of @toshtudor on the recent @surfersjournal issue.

There's so many emotions behind this photo. This was during a point in my life where I have never felt so overwhelmed. The thought of starting the next chapter of my life, fresh into post-graduation wanting to pursue a freelance photography & videography career really started to catch up to me, putting me in a rough space mentally. I honeslty started to really get lost in my own thought, wondering if I really belonged in this industry and if I could really turn a lifetime hobby into a full time career.

When I saw this swell surface on the charts, I couldn't think of a better way to escape reality for a week and get back to one of my favorite places in the world. All I wanted at this time was just to score some perfect waves and walk away with maybe a couple photos that I could reminisce on. I remember running into @toshtudor @andrewjacobson and Cameron Vurbeff in the airport and we were all just so excited and nervous to see what this swell was going to produce. Sure enough, we were greeted with 4 days of picture perfect conditions and pumping waves. I left that trip with what I would say are probably some of the best photos I've taken in my life, which really re-lit that motivational and creative fire back into me.

Massive thanks to @grantellis1 and to the entire Surfers Journal team for making this childhood dream of mine a reality. I will cherish this moment forever. 5 weekends, 4 festivals, 2 shows, and too many multicams to count. Normally not the work I'd showcase on here, but damn it has been fun to step out of my comfort zone and really put my full focus into another form of media outside of surfing. Lot of challenges, tons of learning, and a few sleepless nights to go with it. Beyond grateful for all the opportunities & for all the amazing people I have crossed paths with at all these shows. It's crazy sometimes how it can take one frame to turn a frustrating session into a whole different story. This year's opening day was by far the most hectic swell to start a season. I spent about an hour and a half dodging sets and battling some of the worst rip currents I have ever been in without landing a single shot. Out of nowhere, I finally ended up in a solid position and this wave came straight in. Always special linking with one of the best surfers in the world. Couldn't imagine a better way to start the season, thank you Wedge ❤️‍🔥 // @whoisjob x @fundaysurf taken in The Wedge by @owenbeim

There's no better feeling as a photographer seeing an image of mine blown up huge, but seeing one of my images blown up on a window is such a special feeling. This has always been such a dream of mine since the day I picked up a camera. Huge thanks to @damovideo for making this happen. A couple frames from probably the biggest waves I have swam in at The Wedge in my years of coming here. Have always wanted to swim a big freight day and the time finally came. At one point I had the channel all to myself for a good chunk of time and felt the energy all around me... was very special. Thanks to all the lifeguards for keeping an eye on us the last few days, the real heroes out there.
