It’s an honor to have my portrait selected as the winner of the Monmouth County 250 Art Competition (nonprofessional category). This one depicts a continental of Forman’s Additional Regiment - a unit raised primarily in Monmouth County, namely Freehold, Tinton Falls, Shrewsbury and Middletown.

These men, roughly 74 in all, wore the captured coats of British regiment, stolen from a ship run aground in the Raritan Bay. They fought bravely at the Battle of Germantown in 1777. It’s been a unique pleasure to bring their story to the public in Monmouth County. Today we honor them, and the sacrifice of countless others in their struggle to secure our independence. Happy 4th 🇺🇸
