It’s been three months today since I had to make the decision to put my Cricket baby down. I miss her like crazy but I know she’s no longer in pain. As I navigate this “new normal” I wish I had her to cuddle and talk to… I miss my road dog and our trips to the beach. She was such a great companion. I’ll never forget her and wish I would have had more time with her. Well it’s been two years since you left me. I hope you know how much I loved you. I hope you know how much I miss you. I hope you know how much of an impact you made in/on my life. I hope you know I wish you were still here. I hope you know you were a gift that I never asked for. Because of you I know how unconditional love feels. You were the best friend I never had and I will always hold a special place for you in my heart. You were there in my happy days as well as my darkest of days. You were there when the tears wouldn’t stop falling, you helped me heal, you helped me be kinder, you made me laugh, you loved me even on my bad days when I didn’t love myself. You were my road dog and we took so many adventures together. I’m still missing you and wish you were still here with me now. I know you were tired and sick and I couldn’t bear to watch you suffer anymore so I had to let you go. I hope you forgive me, it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. Today would have been her 78th birthday. This year she has been gone longer than she lived, 39 years. I miss her everyday. I sure would love it if she were still here now, I could use a hug. Mommy, I miss you, can’t wait until we meet again, I have so much to tell you. by @owenssees
