Between finishing my mural, working my 9-5, getting ready to leave for San Antonio, and ending the week in San Antonio, last week was a ✨whirlwind✨.

But I’m so proud of this mural—it was my first time painting at an outdoor site with no access to fresh water for brush cleaning, so I learned how to adapt to that (mostly—it was a lot hotter than we anticipated, so I’ll have to see what I can do to revive a couple of my brushes lol).

Of course there are a few things I would’ve touched up if I had a little bit more time and didn’t finish in the dark, but overall, I love how this mural turned out.

I love how I used the colors—this color palette was a little challenging for me bc we had a lot of mid tones and I like high contrast, so I had to do some creative problem solving, and I think it really pushed my piece and my skills in such a good way.

I also learned some good tricks for getting precise detail work when my brush is gunked up bc the paint is drying too fast in the heat, which will definitely come in handy here in sunny southern Utah.

This started out as me just doing some play, but I think I cooked with with color palette.

I’m thinking I might have to use it for my next fabric and wall paper collection.

I’ve been thinking of my next collection either being based around either a Swiss folk art style collection based around Derek’s and my travels to Ouray, Colorado, a nature inspired collection based on our travels through Capitol Reef NP, or a nature inspired collection based on my 2019 Havasupai trip.

Today while I was roller skating, I discovered that “Into You” by Ariana Grande is the perfect tempo for my baby deer zero, so I think we all know what my top song for 2025 will be lol 😂

I had a dress in my closet that I got like 3-4 years ago—hated the way it fit, tried and failed to fix it, was determined that one day, I’d do something with it. That day has finally arrived!

I used the ballet wrap skirt pattern by @cerigwen_shop from @spoonflower’s free pattern series on their blog—I made some adjustments to mine, and turns out it makes a perfect skate skirt!

Because obviously, I immediately wore it to the skate park to roller skate in it.

In other news, I got referred to as “TikTok Lady” at the skate park after I filmed these clips lol—in the form of “excuse me, sorry TikTok Lady” as a kid zipped through the area I was skating in and thought he got in my shot 😂

I planned to do more of a true recap, but I got to February when we had to say goodbye to Maggie, and decided I did not have the bandwidth for that. So here’s my top 9 instead, which still includes Maggie, but I didn’t have to curate it all.

2024 was a weird year. It was obviously hard to say goodbye to Mags, and getting laid off was hard too—professionally, I’ve been pretty stagnant, but my personal life and creativity have thrived this year.

I made soooo much more art this year than I did in 2023, and poured myself into so many cool projects, along with a website rebuild. Maybe 2025 will be the year I get around to actually painting murals on our fence (like I planned in pic 6)? We’ll see 😂

I improved a ton in my roller skating journey, and made some wonderful friends through that. Derek and I went on some amazing adventures in Utah and Colorado, where we also made some new friends.

Overall, I’d say it was a good year, just with some really hard things mixed in. I’m looking forward to what 2025 brings. Thanks to all of you for riding along and supporting me! Clinkies! 🥂

Did a little ice skating, I mean, roller skating in the snow yesterday lol

In other news, roller skaters, let me know what your favorite inexpensive bearings are in the comments 😂

Okay, my bearings are actually mostly fine. I cleaned/checked them when I got home. I had one wheel I was already watching, and it’s about the same and the rest are fine. But I am going to need to replace them soon bc of the one wheel, so seriously give me your bearing recs!

And as always, you can snag a windbreaker from my Etsy shop! Tested and proven—very good for cold weather skates!

Sorry for the repost but the video quality is MUCH better now. you can actually see the tires spinning and paint coming off my back bumper on the passenger side corner now.

One of these days I'll damage that bumper enough to justify getting something much better back there.
