I started writing the novel that this musical theatre adaptation is based on 9 years ago. I wrote the first draft in my Notes app on my phone, on my train & tram commute to and from work. I first worked with Kaitlyn 8 years ago (After The DG - BBC’s Instagram drama series for teens) and with Owly 10 years ago (Chip Shop: The Musical, if you know, you know)
The book was published in 2020 and is award-winning and nominated.
My work on this project as writer/director is supported by a DYCP grant from @aceagrams
Big up the Arts Council and all the writers and artists making work and developing themselves in this super tough arts climate
It’s the long game
Looking forward to being with the team, enjoying every minute of this and learning a lot

Day 25- the final day of grimey advent calendar 🎄🫡

I massively appreciate the kind words and support since I started this 👊

Can’t believe I made 25 full finished beats in 25 days, let me give myself a little pat on the back for that. No throwaway business, I’ve put everything into these and honestly some of these are my best ever work. Tbh you don’t realise the pressure until you get into it, not as easy as it sounds. What happens if I just can’t come up with the goods one day? If I commit to it I have to make it happen but pressure makes diamonds and I’m proud of what I made. Some days were harder than others, but I’m really happy I managed to see this through 🏆 Added bonus of proving wrong any sly haters who thought I wouldn’t finish this or that I wouldn’t come up with the goods. Stick that in ya crack pipe + smoke it ya bitch🖕😂 How you like me now puto… 😂

On a serious note I made this one (number 25) ahead of time so I can spend time with my little ones, the greatest blessing in the world ❤️ I’ve got them a lot of gifts and I am extremely grateful to be in a position to do that, wasn’t always like that in my life as some who know me will know the stuff I been through some ups and downs to say the least. Lord knows I’ve put in some hard graft and a lot of prayers over the years and I’m starting to see the benefits
