Thank you to everyone that joined us at Prep in the Park! 🌳🚒

Thousands of community members came together to learn simple ways to be prepared for an emergency or disaster. From fire safety and Hands-Only CPR to Basic First Aid, earthquake safety in the simulator, flood preparedness and more, Oxnard community members explored hands-on activities, connected with emergency resources and gained practical skills to help them feel better equipped for disasters.

As National Preparedness Month comes to an end, it’s a great time to focus on disaster readiness and make sure your whole family knows what to do in an emergency! 🚨

Join us at Prep in the Park for a FREE event featuring hands-on activities and an opportunity to build your disaster preparedness skills. Take a look at spaces in our Pre-K Experience classroom! 📚

We’re proud to welcome a new group of young learners to the Pre-K Experience, where our youngest community members have a place to learn, grow and thrive. Designed for children ages 4 and 5 as they prepare for kindergarten, the program offers a small classroom setting with plenty of one-on-one attention.

Students take part in traditional learning alongside hands-on experiences, including science activities, field trips, special guests and holiday celebrations.

The program is led by Mrs. Eloise and Ms. April, who each bring more than 20 years of experience to the classroom and a hands-on approach to helping young learners grow.

September is National Preparedness Month, and that means preparing the whole family, including your pets! 🐾

At Oxnard’s Prep in the Park, you can learn pet first aid, how to safely evacuate your pets and other animals in an emergency, and find helpful pet preparedness resources.

You’ll also have a chance to meet the Oxnard Police Department K9s and Mounted Unit horses, along with the Fire Department Peer Support K9s! 🐕‍🦺🐴

This past weekend, staff from the City of Oxnard’s City Corps Team and Parks Division joined community volunteers at Via Marina Park for a Meet Up Clean Up!

Together, they picked up litter and debris, and gave the signage posts a fresh coat of paint—helping keep the park clean, maintained and ready for the community to enjoy. 🌳✨🧹
