Ô Cameroon! Modern and Contemporary Art and Artists, 1925 → Now

For the first time, a century of Cameroonian art is gathered in one book. It features 180 artists, spanning pioneers of the 1920s to the voices shaping the scene today.

This book is an invitation: to look more closely, to remember more fully, and to imagine what comes next.

Tour dates to follow.

L’attente est terminée.

Ô Cameroon! Modern and Contemporary Art and Artists, 1925 → Now

For centuries, Cameroonian art has spoken.
In wood and bronze, beads and cloth.
Then in paint, photographs, scrap metal and light.

So much of it was never written down.

Until now.

Ô Cameroon! 1925 → Now
A century. 180 artists. One book.

Tour dates to follow.

The making of Ô Cameroon! was a journey of listening and discovery.

From pioneers and masters like Werewere-Liking in Côte d’Ivoire, René Tchebetchou and Otheo in Yaoundé, to Manuela Dikoume in Elbeuf, outside Paris — sitting with artists, hearing their stories and following unexpected threads.

And conversations with pioneering cultural actors Maréme Malong and Danièle Diwouta-Kotto — their memories, wisdom and guidance opening new paths.

One conversation led to another. Connections emerged. A much larger story came into view.

A century of Cameroonian art. Held for the first time. 🇨🇲

The slow turn of a page, a hand on the cover, a smile that arrives before the words do. This is what happened when 180 artists met their readers at AKAA Paris.
