Let’s talk about 35mm and the Fujifilm X100VI.

I’ve been shooting with a 35mm fixed focal lenght for two years now, and for me, it’s the best way to get creative. You have to work with what you have, and even a small change in perspective can make images look more photographic and cinematic.

Thanks to the compact lens, the camera remains small and easy to take anywhere—almost like an accessory you always carry with you. This not only results in beautiful images but also a look that simply looks great.

Istanbul on Fujifilm…

The views from the ferries I photographed during my stay in Istanbul. Every day, they transport thousands of people from Europe to Asia and back again – a constant back and forth between two continents, full of movement, stories, and special moments.

I love shooting in low light and experimenting with contrasts and the interplay of light and shadow. This is precisely where Fujifilm cameras excel. They give me the opportunity to realize my creative vision exactly as I imagine it – and to capture my own perspective on the world in images.

I was in Istanbul again, and my camera roll is full of memories.

Here’s a little glimpse from the bookstore in Karaköy…

I don’t think I need to say much about Istanbul, but it’s a city where photography is incredibly fun because something is happening on every corner, and the city’s aesthetic makes the pictures so special.

I was out and about with my Fujifilm X100VI compact camera, which is always ready to capture these fleeting moments.

Recap • 2025

Dieses Jahr ist echt viel passiert – und insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden damit, wie es verlaufen ist.
Ich habe mich getraut, Dinge zu tun, vor denen ich früher Angst hatte. Der größte Schritt für mich war der Umzug nach Köln – ein kleiner Traum, den ich mir endlich erfüllt habe.

Auch fotografisch ist unglaublich viel passiert. Mir ist klar geworden, was ich will und wie ich mir meine Zukunft vorstelle. Außerdem habe ich mein absolutes Lieblingsfoto geschossen. Ich bin gespannt, welches Foto 2026 folgen wird. (Foto Nr. 1)

Ich möchte euch gerne etwas mit auf den Weg geben: Traut euch, eure Gedanken und Träume in die Tat umzusetzen. Am Ende sind es alles Erfahrungen, die wir auf unserer Reise sammeln. Du schreibst deine Geschichte selbst – und es wäre doch schade, wenn unsere Träume immer nur Vorstellungen in unseren Gedanken bleiben würden.

Außerdem habe ich wirklich super liebe Menschen kennengelernt, wofür ich sehr dankbar bin.

Kurt Krömer würde jetzt sagen: Mal sehen, was die Katze uns heute vor die Tür gelegt hat.

Recap • 2025

A lot happened this year – and overall, I’m really happy with how everything turned out.
I dared to do things I used to be afraid of. The biggest step for me was moving to Cologne, a small dream I finally made come true.

A lot has happened photographically as well. I’ve become much clearer about what I want and how I envision my future. I also captured my favorite photo so far. I’m excited to see which photo will follow in 2026. (Photo No. 1)

I’d like to leave you with one thought: dare to turn your ideas and dreams into reality. In the end, they’re all experiences we collect along our journey. You write your own story – and it would be a shame if our dreams only ever stayed ideas in our minds.

As Kurt Krömer would say: let’s see what the cat leaves at the door.

Ich hoffe, sie hat euch gefallen und ihr konntet einen kleinen Einblick in das Leben dieser faszinierenden Stadt bekommen.

Zum Schluss möchte ich noch etwas Persönliches sagen:
Danke, dass ihr meine Arbeit und meine Kunst so wertschätzt. Euer Feedback – egal ob in Kommentaren, Nachrichten oder Reaktionen, bedeutet mir unglaublich viel.

Wenn ich zurückblicke, sehe ich, wie sich mein Account und meine Fotografie über die Zeit entwickelt haben. Meine Art zu fotografieren verändert sich ständig – ganz von selbst, und das ist auch gut so. Wichtig ist mir nur, dass ihr spürt, was ich mit meinen Bildern ausdrücken möchte.

Im alten Basar, der Kapalı Çarşı, wird überall gehandelt und verkauft. Jeder bietet sein eigenes Handwerk an – ganz egal, wonach du suchst, hier wirst du fündig

Ich persönlich mag solche Orte nicht besonders, da es mir dort einfach zu voll ist 😄 – aber ich würde trotzdem jedem empfehlen, die Kapalı Çarşı einmal gesehen zu haben.

Du findest sie auf der europäischen Seite Istanbuls, ganz in der Nähe von Eminönü, von wo aus man direkt dorthin gelangt.

In the Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı), trading and selling are happening everywhere. Everyone offers their own craft – no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll definitely find it here.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of such crowded places 😄, but I’d still recommend everyone to experience the Grand Bazaar at least once!

You’ll find it on the European side of Istanbul, just a short walk from Eminönü.

Jetzt mal real talk, irgendwann möchte ich in Istanbul leben – einfach, um sagen zu können, dass ich in dem Land leben darf, aus dem ich eigentlich komme.
Doch ehrlich gesagt… ich weiß gar nicht so viel über meine Heimat. Wir waren immer nur im Urlaub dort – nie wirklich dort gelebt.

Ich will alles kennenlernen, die Menschen, die Kultur, das echte Leben – nicht nur der Touri sein, der einmal im Jahr vorbeischaut.

Viele würden jetzt sagen: „Dann geh doch einfach!“ – aber so einfach ist das nicht. Denn auch Deutschland ist meine Heimat.
Ich lebe irgendwie zwischen zwei Welten… und das ist nicht immer leicht.

Ich bin mir sicher, vielen von euch geht’s genauso.
Mal sehen, was die Zeit so bringt.
Einen schönen Sonntag euch allen.

Real talk:
Someday, I want to live in Istanbul – just to be able to say that I live in the country I actually come from.
But to be honest… I don’t really know that much about my homeland. We’ve only ever been there on vacation – never truly lived there.

I want to experience everything – the people, the culture, real life – not just be the tourist who visits once a year.

Many would probably say, “Then just go!” – but it’s not that simple. Because Germany is also my home.
I somehow live between two worlds… and that’s not always easy.

I’m sure many of you feel the same way.
Let’s see what time will bring.

Ich bin schon an vielen Orten dieser Welt gewesen (was ich sehr zu schätzen weiß), aber nirgendwo macht es mir so viel Spaß zu fotografieren wie in Istanbul.
Es ist einfach unglaublich – an jeder Straßenecke passiert etwas, und die Menschen reagieren so offen und interessiert, wenn man sie fotografiert. Oft wollen sie sogar direkt das Bild sehen!

Ich spiele mit dem Gedanken, in Zukunft ein Fotobuch über Istanbul zu veröffentlichen. Dafür müsste ich natürlich noch einige Male dorthin reisen.
Was meint ihr zu der Idee? Hättet ihr Lust auf so ein Buch?

I’ve been to many places around the world (which I’m very grateful for), but nowhere is as much fun to photograph as Istanbul.
It’s just incredible — there’s something happening on every street corner, and people are so open and curious when you photograph them. Most of the time, they even want to see the picture right away!

I’ve been thinking about publishing a photo book about Istanbul in the future. Of course, that would mean traveling there a few more times.
What do you think of the idea? Would you be interested in a book like that?

Er befindet sich im Stadtteil Beyoğlu, direkt unterhalb der İstiklal Caddesi, die zum Taksim-Platz führt.

The Galata Tower is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks and can be seen from almost every point in the city.
