𝘼𝙏 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝘿𝙊𝙊𝙍 is out everywhere 🌐 links in stories + bio

A little over a year and a half into leading this band of twenty-somethings all in the thick of their pursuits, I needed this project to be something we could hold onto and ground us amidst all the growing pains. Especially now, in the midst of a global dimness, producing this EP was important in reminding ourselves what mattered the most: home; in all its stillness, in all its joy, and in all its beautiful mess.

This alternative R&B record will come down as our most important project yet, because from almost every angle, it’s us 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦. This went beyond the culmination of our individual creativity, as it turned out to be the sound we could settle into and grow old with, since we’re probably going to pursue this music dream for a loooong loooong time.

I didn’t bother going all deep and poetic with my songwriting, nor did we spend months producing some grand, figurative body of work. This EP called for something mundane!Whatever familiar, fuzzy feelings these tracks gave you were first felt by us, because we sought to pull from what we felt, and from nothing less than reality.

These 5 tracks are meant to reflect the ups and downs of loving, but definitely not as a linear path. So go cry, dance, and love endlessly! Wherever and however you wish ♾️

producing 𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙤𝙤𝙧 | a closer look 👀

i love my bandmates @ozo.online always

i specifically asked jaime to record whatever odd percussive sounds he wanted to, and i promised to make all of it work. i take pride in our mutual trust when it comes to drum production, and it’s wonderful being in a band with one of the best drummers in the scene.

my snare sauce is a very quick delay on 0% feedback! like haas but on mono.

i always add a motif (like the melody of “i think about you”) to all my production work. apart from repetition inducing catchiness, it also serves as this big anchor that brings all the instruments together from time to time 🤝 like a
musical handshake.

i’ve worked with brennan and pat on so many tracks that they automatically execute this concept. the best as always!

my many years of being told to soften my bass tracks is getting healed by luis’ eagerness to write these intricate but intentional basslines

whatever this song made you feel, god knows we felt it first. special thanks to hannah for co-writing this and pouring her heart out with me!

being a 7-piece band playing so many notes, there aren’t much gaps to fill in our songs. so i specifically needed the sax to compliment all these existing layers. mattia greatly understood the assignment (my yapping) with all the soul you could ask for <3

the favorite sax mixing tip i learned from my mentor is de-essing the sax bus!
