As I wrap up my second year of college this week, I can’t believe at how much time has passed!

There were so many moments, especially during the first semester, where i’d question if I’d make it to the second semester. Things like mediocre grades, a car accident that left me without a car for the rest of the semester, financial stress, juggling two jobs and my mental health all piled up and made that time one of the hardest I’ve faced.

I made decisions that were out of character for me, and I had to sit with that and grow from it. But through everything, I’m genuinely grateful for the people who stayed. The ones who showed up for me, checked in, and helped me without judgment. My roommates, neighbors, loved ones from San Mo and from my hometown were a huge part of pulling me out of that bad place and reminded me I wasn’t alone. It taught me the importance of curiosity and empathy before jumping to judgment.

My second semester has been a reset and a break from a lot of those habits. Joining TXST Ambassadors was a major shift for me, not just in routine but in direction overall. It has put me around people who are driven, super supportive, and genuine. My Terry family has also made me feel like that as well. It has been one of my biggest support systems at TXST who have always encouraged me and kept me grounded even when things felt overwhelming.

I’m not someone who has ever struggled with mental health at all, so that first semester really caught me off guard. But I’m proud of how i’ve bounced back and found a sense of purpose again in continuing my education. I hope this serves as a reminder to anyone, especially a college student, to choose people who choose you!🤗 by @ozzie.val

My study abroad trip in Spain has come to an end! I’m beyond grateful to have experienced this once in a lifetime opportunity. In just one month, I feel like I’ve grown a lot and been genuinely impacted by everything I’ve learned and seen. This experience has opened my eyes in many ways. I’ll carry these memories and lessons with me for a lifetime.
Just a year ago, I never thought I’d have the chance to travel to another country, especially somewhere like Spain. So much has changed in a year, and I’ve learned and grown more than I ever expected. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Terry Foundation. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in such a meaningful experience. I’m proud to represent the values of this scholarship wherever I go. Thank you for continuing to believe in the dreams I shared with you when I was seventeen. I’ll always be grateful for everything this organization has done for me.
Lastly, thank you to my family and friends for their consistent support. Your love and support was always felt even if it was 5000 miles away. oi whos cutting onions😒
