Indoor Landscaping at @nowherebaths

Designing an indoor landscape in a bath house was no easy feat, the conditions are uniquely challenging: warm bath-level temperatures, fluctuating humidity, limited airflow and low natural light. Thankfully for us, this is what makes a project fun.

We narrowed down plant species by process of elimination, concocted substrate mixtures, and installed grow lights that integrated discreetly into the ceiling. The result was a highly intentional configuration, a controlled environment for plants to grow.

While we’re thankful to the owners for having given us creative freedom, it somehow still felt collaborative. We took inspiration from the placement of the building, being surrounded by dense greenery, we wanted to poke at a sense that the baths were built around existing plants. We were able to create a landscape that breathes with the architecture—cohesive, calm and alive.

Nowhere will be reopening in June/July.

Have an idea to develop? Drop us a message and let’s get discussing!

BTS: developing our latest product

Admittedly not the easiest materials to work with; stitching hard metal wires intricately, while finding balance between the brittleness of cement and the elegance of a thin vessel. These are some of the challenges we overcome to explore this medium and how they represent our interaction with nature.

The construction materials represent human innovation while live plants represent Mother Nature’s triumph and her ability to thrive beyond our intervention.

Limited pieces available, DM to enquire.

BTS: choosing trees for a roof terrace.

Trees are a good way of activating under-utilised parts of your space. Their canopies eventually grow out, casting shade, and increasing usability of an area that would have otherwise been too sunny for daytime activities…
