The “67” meme (pronounced “six seven”) is a viral internet meme that took off in 2025, largely through TikTok and Instagram, originating from Skrilla’s song “Doot Doot (6 7)” and spreading through basketball edits, particularly those featuring LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall. It became a sort of absurdist inside joke, with people shouting “six seven” and doing a specific hand gesture, often in response to absolutely nothing, with the humor coming from its randomness, repetition, and the shared understanding that it doesn't really mean anything. But like most memes that escape their original internet subculture and become popular with children, it quickly became overexposed: people started yelling it everywhere, schools and brands picked it up, and the joke became less about the original absurdity and more about the fact that people were still doing it. At that point, the humor became self-perpetuating, with the meme surviving largely because everyone recognizes it rather than because there's anything particularly funny about it anymore. It's basically a victim of its own success: once everyone is in on the joke, the randomness stops being surprising, and the repetition becomes the joke's entire personality.
