Gorgeous! I was doing art like this as a student nearly 30 years ago. Just had to comment because the one above amused me. I’m old lol

Always a kind of sad but proud moment watching our medically complex child become okay with the things she has to do for her health- and even do them herself 🥹. She’s basically had to fight for her life these past couple years which included so many vitals, procedures, icky meds, pokes and just uncomfortable and scary things.

Today - she will help the doctors listen to her lungs, wrap her own leg for blood pressure, offer a toe to get her oxygen levels and even hold her own nebulizer when she needs to use it 🥹🫶🏼 Of course she fights things too like blood draws and her CPAP machine… but the progress is so bittersweet to see. Parents who have been here too get it.

Here she’s using the nebulizer paired with her inhalers to help with her congestion this past week and she’s started to hold it all on her own! I remember the scared fighting she would do when we first introduced a neb years ago.

Kiddos with Down Syndrome often have trouble with congestion due to their low muscle tone and narrow nasal passages. We have definitely seen this in Ozzy, especially in seasons of bad allergies from pollen and whatnot outside. We’ve finally found her combo of interventions to help her best we can when a cold hits and the congestion gets rough. It’s not fair that she has to fight harder in so many aspects of her life, but boy do I see it building character for her even at 3 years old. 💗
