I’ve been reading the Nan Shepherd biography ‘Into The Mountain’ and reminded myself of her most famous quote ‘It’s a grand thing, to get get leave to live’ which couldn’t be more apt for my life right now.

We beat the windbreaks and cool boxes to the beach this morning; swam for an hour beneath the rising sun, bringing iridescence to the swirling sand, rolled by the outgoing tide. Then treated to a display of tumbling dolphins as we climbed our way back up to the path.

It’s a grand thing indeed, to have leave to live.
