It was a mad day out.

But worth every moment.

On one of those halcyon days where the sun sits high and the skies are endless we ventured north-easterly.

How magical then to see the very lovely @chasgladstone share his latest book, in situ @glendyecabinsandcottages as the swallows chittered and the breeze was just sufficient to ease the heat from the day.

It was perfect.

A beautiful book of beautiful words which I’m excited to read more of but, better still, hearing those, words read by their author in this place that inspired its writing, just when it’s at its most glorious.

What a treat.

Thankyou for a beautiful evening @chasgladstone @carolinegladstone and lovely to see you @auds_at_glendye @rachel.sedgwick - will stop for a little longer next time… 🪶 by @noseyparkyn

Walking into this water, feeling minuscule and inconsequential amongst the hills and mountains that envelop this loch, finding a oneness with the silky, saline seas. Finding an inner peace and calm. I am a cacophony of disregulation; at times my mind and body can feel like a hive, with a million tiny electrodes firing at once. Here I am one. I am calm. I can still myself in a way that I can’t anywhere else. It’s as if the shock of the cold resets the cogs and systems and processes that make up the machine of my being. Renewed, I emerge stronger, more able, steadier and settled. I’m trying to swim at least once each week. I managed twice this weekend. I am almost liquid with inner peace. by @noseyparkyn

Making slow progress home from an altogether other worldly experience @arcticbath_sweden

It’s reawakened a something in me that has been dormant for a while.

Like a small, almost forgotten ember, rekindled through a sauna ritual, led by an expert guide, interspersed with plunges into the frozen waters of the Arctic rivers that run beneath the ice. I feel more myself than I have for a good while.

A truly magical couple of days where I saw moose traversing the frozen waters, tracked their pathway across the snow, experienced solitude in a birch forest and reset so many of the elements within me.

I already cannot wait to come back.

The best of birthday wishes for the beautiful @debizornes and so much love for my companions in ice-bathing @salcornwell and @alice_calcasola

I have so much to write and so much I could share but for now it is just gratitude for the @arcticbath_sweden for creating, facilitating and enabling this incredible experience. Thankyou 🙏🏻🇸🇪🥶💙 by @noseyparkyn

I’ve left my heart and soul @fforest where @jimparkyn has been hosting workshops as part of @fforestgather and I’ve been his support crew, wafting about and recreating one of my favourite photos of my beautiful hound now that he’s grown.

The Jim & Hedge show stay in situ for the final 2 days but I’m now headed easterly before an early morning channel crossing on Saturday and more adventures…

If you’ve not been, @fforestgather is a gorgeous summer gathering of creatives who host workshops across two weeks of the summer. It’s beautiful, empowering and massive enablement for the ‘craft curious’ out there.

I’ve been reading the Nan Shepherd biography ‘Into The Mountain’ and reminded myself of her most famous quote ‘It’s a grand thing, to get get leave to live’ which couldn’t be more apt for my life right now.

We beat the windbreaks and cool boxes to the beach this morning; swam for an hour beneath the rising sun, bringing iridescence to the swirling sand, rolled by the outgoing tide. Then treated to a display of tumbling dolphins as we climbed our way back up to the path.

It’s a grand thing indeed, to have leave to live. by @noseyparkyn

When I moved here, I never expected the commute to be as lovely as it can* be 🤩

Coming home and the world is on fire.

Waiting for the ferry, listening to @bbcsport which made for a spectacular soundtrack to this spectacular sunset as @england make it through to the final of the European cup.

What a week. A shiny new government giving hope of a brighter future and the England football team disproving the doubters and delivering an amazing result. Might buy a Lottery Ticket. by @noseyparkyn

Been a while since the grid has featured any food so sharing the super-highlight of Saturday that included the most beautiful lunch.

Hosted by @patriciarodi and created by @darrenrosschef surrounded by the art of @kirstylackie

Dream location, dream eats and wonderful things to look at (including Patricia & Patrick’s beautiful home with its stellar views over the Clyde).

I hear there may be more so worth some follows to ensure a seat at the table.

Plateware by @fablehome because I wanted to know too 😉

Thankyou for a gorgeous day folks… by @noseyparkyn

A beautiful weekend spent in gratitude for my new surroundings and all that it affords us.

This photo doesn’t really show the wonder of where I stood as i took it.

At Otter Ferry there’s a sand bar that reaches out into Loch Fyne. I’ve no idea how far it actually stretches but the tiny white speck to the right of the middle of the picture is the wonderful @theoystercatcherotterferry and I was stood not far off of the green buoy, that marks danger for inbound boats, in awe at the 360 degree, gobsmacking view of loch, mountain and sky. It’ll help with bearings and scale.

The seemingly endless beach is made mostly of shells which evidences the richness of this environment for nature. The seabirds are plentiful, the kelp forest thrives, the sea-life equally so and the land-life (me) were uplifted to the point of exultant!

I love that I get to live here. That I’m within 30 minutes of a thousand places where I can stand in wonder at the natural world. I can’t imagine a day when I’m not bowled over by its beauty, my breath taken by its wonder.

A new body of water today.

Morning walk @botanybreaks @lowermillestate taking in all that is glorious about this patch of the Cotswolds.

Started writing a something on solstice today. Not sure what it is yet but if I can get it to good enough I’ll share.

For now, am off to bask in the glorious sunshine 🌞

Again, I’m leaving. Never not sorry.

Moving to the outer reaches has introduced masses of friction to my life as I remain employed south of the border, 500 miles away, yet every time I leave and every time I return I am grateful that this is home for me now.
