You don’t just nip into Battersea Power Station… …I start in the shops but end up going up the chimney! As you do! 😆 If you don’t believe me watch the video! 👀 #yourbatterseapowerstation #ad @batterseapwrstn

Your screen isn’t struggling to load these images. The objects really look like that. French designer Jonas Hejduk brings the appearance of low-resolution graphics into the physical world through crash.jpeg. Blurry woven rugs and an upholstered bench disguised as a poorly rendered tree trunk turn familiar objects into something your eyes keep trying to bring into focus. The bench’s bark-like surface is printed fabric, combining traditional upholstery with the visual language of digital textures. Started in 2021, the project follows an imaginary scenario: a meteorite hits Earth and mysteriously lowers the resolution of everything around it. Instead of making objects sharper and more detailed, Hejduk deliberately removes visual information, creating a world that seems permanently stuck halfway through loading. Behind the humor is a question about our appetite for ever-clearer digital imagery. Images may feel weightless, but storing and sharing them depends on physical infrastructure and energy. Hejduk uses this fictional, blurry world to explore our relationship with technology, consumption, and the idea that higher definition always means progress. Is this a little controversial? Idk but I feel like it’s so important for people to know what’s possible when we work with the brains mechanisms for profound change! We really do have highly effective ways to facilitate these neurobiological processes & talking about the same thing over and over again without substantial change isn’t the way! If you’re interested in learning more about the mechanisms of memory reconsolidation and how to apply them, I recommend these resources: * Tori Olds’s YouTube channel. She has a great series on memory reconsolidation and another on Coherence Therapy, which is the modality I use. * Unlocking the Emotional Brain by Bruce Ecker and colleagues. * The trainings and resources available on the Coherence Therapy website. * My online courses for therapists at KinaWolfensteinTraining.com. * My library of videos and educational resources at Patreon.com/ComplexTraumaRecovery. When I witness someone having a really big breakthrough in just a couple of sessions, I often find myself thinking: Do people know this is possible? Do people know that long-standing patterns that feel so sticky and unmovable can sometimes change profoundly when we access the emotional learnings underlying them and create the conditions for memory reconsolidation? There’s also an important nuance here: even with a highly skilled therapist, reaching that kind of transformation can take a long time. With complex trauma, there can be many interconnected emotional learnings and protective barriers that need attention along the way. I’ve had plenty of experiences where I haven’t been able to facilitate a transformational experience in just a few sessions, and I don’t want to imply that this happens every time. Rapid breakthroughs are possible, but they aren’t a promise or a standard against which to measure everyone’s healing.
Friendship breakups don’t get talked about enough - and they can hurt just as much as romantic ones. Comment ‘Friendship’ and I’ll DM you a link to the full episode. Leading expert on female friendship, @daniellebayardjackson, shared something with me that completely changed how I think about friendship: Not every friendship is meant to last forever. And just because a friendship is now “over” doesn’t mean it wasn’t meaningful. When someone is deeply woven into your life, their absence leaves a mark. In this episode of @themelrobbinspodcast, Danielle breaks down the surprising truth about adult friendship and shares 3 simple ways to make connections feel easier again. 🎧 “It’s Not You: The Real Reason Adult Friendship Is So Hard & 3 Ways to Make It Easier.” Listen now on Spotify or Apple Podcasts - search ‘The Mel Robbins Podcast Adult Friendship’
