Designed by Foster + Partners and Heatherwick Studio, the Bund Finance Centre connects Shanghai’s Old Town and new financial district. This landmark building is home to Fosun Foundation that celebrates traditional Chinese arts and serve as a place of heritage exchange. On Heatherwick’s website, they showed the process of determining the form and material of the 675 magnesium alloy tassels (referencing traditional Chinese bridal headdress). I highly recommend looking through their process photos!!

I had walked from the Yuyuan and the building revealed itself amongst other pieces of impressive architecture. Although I did not get to go inside, I sat outside in the public plaza where a pet market took place and just simply admire at how Chinese heritage was weaved in so seamlessly into the landscape.
