Another top moment of my life ❤️
Second birth story was just as special and indescribable as the first, even though it was a completely different experience. First labor, we were heading to the hospital with contractions 2min apart, and 12hrs later Calla was delivered vaginally.
This birth, we calmly arrived at the hospital at 7:30am, not in labor, but ready to try and flip our breech baby, knowing a c section would happen if unsuccessful. We went back to pre op, monitored the baby, I got an iv, fluids, and then I went back to the OR. After getting an epidural & spinal tap they brought Andy in and he held my hand the entire time. After 3 attempts to flip the baby, she just wouldn’t budge. Nothing was wrong, her head was just too cozy in my rib cage. I already had a feeling this would be the case so I was mentally prepared for c section, and at that point just ready to meet my baby.
As my medical team began prepping for c section, Andy kept me laughing with his jokes. Everything happened so fast and within 15min we heard a cry. They pulled the baby up and Andy announced the gender. We both cried. I remember seeing her little feet over the curtain. After cleaning her up and weighing her, they brought her over and placed her on me. That moment is one of the best of my life ❤️ from there we went to recovery and Juniper stayed clinged to me the rest of the day. It’s a day I could relive over and over.
I’m very grateful for another positive birth story, even though it was not the one I had envisioned. I do feel like I was meant to have this story for a reason and hope this brings comfort to other women on their pregnancy/labor journey ✨
Ps. She was born to this song 🫶🏼 We got to pick an artist station for the OR which definitely calmed the nerves
