I am so proud that I got to showcase just a glimpse into my culture with this monologue! I wrote and performed, ‘My Children’, for my Writing Lab class at @thegroundlings I was nervous that I wouldn’t connect with the audience or get many laughs because I spoke in Arabic/English, but let this be your sign that comedy is a universal language! 😂 Jokes aside, I’m also honored to have gotten to speak Arabic on an iconic stage (which I’ve never seen done before at the Groundlings) especially now during a time where the livelihood of my people is still in question. This is a reminder that your existence, is resistance. You matter. Your voice matters. ❤️

And finally, my favorite part is hearing my dad’s laugh at the Arabic part of my monologue 🥹 (now this proves I’m funny in Arabic too) and that I got to represent my family by using their names. 🥰
